    FYI
Book depository has geo pricing, 'free shipping' is hidden in higher prices for .au users

    • +1

Yet it is still cheaper than most Australian book stores except Big W, Target & Kmart's range of books. Although I do believe it is best to support local retailers where possible.

      • +2

Well of course, our local stores have to pay the "Australia Tax" to the local distributor.

It's a shame Mr Harvey couldn't push to fix the real problem with retail, instead of charging us GST on imports

    • 'free shipping' is hidden in higher prices for .au users

it's showing for me and i'm not using a vpn

      • Worldwide shipping is always free, but if you buy the book on the .uk site, it is cheaper.

        Hence "free shipping"

    • Did anyone ever adapt a new work around for it?

Used to be that you could adjust the way the site loaded to think you were in the US or UK (without using a VPN).

Alternatively: anyone succesfually using a VPN to order from book depository while their pc is located overseas? Any recommendations for the best pricing options?

If my quick math is correct, you need to spend $75 to get the full $15 cash back.

    • +3

They normally don't count GST. so it would need to be $82.50 I think.

Good deal except that i don't really trust CR now after the Liquorland 25% cashback offer. They didn't register my $30 cashback initially and then said I have to wait up to 90 days for my request to be confirmed.

    • +3

It's pretty standard with cashbacks to have a wait.

Cash rewards are good in that they follow up on things which didn't register.

      • Yes but they stated cashback should be registered within 5 business days. Over 2 weeks later and still nothing so I did have to follow up. Their customer service was nice enough but whatever protocol that requires a further 90 day wait to confirm is just ridiculous when it can obviously be done within minutes (when it does work).

    • But did they confirm it has tracked? I had the issue with Shopback & BWS, it didn't track and they didn't help…..even though it showed a click through on their website. Annoying, but oh well I just see it as bonus money.

      • That is true, it should be thought of as bonus money but its hard to when a lot of deals are posted around it being guaranteed otherwise it isnt a deal at all. So then if you actually dont get the cash back, you ended up just paying standard prices.

I've just put an order of 3 books via this deal and it tracked within minutes in my case.

        • same here! Really fast tracking

  • +1

Are pre-orders eligible? Realised the book I wanted ships in 85 days.

    • +1

i think they should be, i mean, you are spending the money anyway. There is nothing about it on the T&C. Maybe you can try, i just bought 3 books and got confirmation from CR in like 10 minutes.

      • Yeah you're right, I went ahead with the order, didn't get confirmation from CR yet though.

  • Just be wary of postage times, I waited 6 weeks for part of my last order. When contacted the customer service reps were so swamped they asked me the name of the book I was waiting on rather than look it up themselves.

  • Damn missed this!! Was this 20% cashback for existing customers?

One of the reasons i turned ofd from cashrewards is their marketing always has a bloody great % then you dig in and it's only for nee customers not existing. So hence why i gave up.

  • It was for existing. Above someone shared shopping on the UK site with a vpn. I'll try that next time.

    • Drats! Such a small window…. :(

  • This was such a good saving . Was hoping it would be repeated for frenzy but will have to hold out longer
