Seiko SRPD39J $399 Delivered @ Starbuy

280

Looks like Starbuy is really hitting it out of the park with their 1 day sales. This SRPD39J has a gorgeous clean face with a nice blue second hand. The date box is also at a different 6 o'clock position instead of 3, which might not be to some people's taste, but I think it helps make it stand out. For $399 delivered, I think this would be worthwhile getting if you just want a clean white dial watch with a metallic bracelet. Oh yeah, unlike some of the other Presage watches, this has dual curved sapphire glass.

Another great watch, you can't go wrong with white dial and blue hands. Star Buy are doing some great deals. Absolutely love my new SRPE19J bought from them, the dial is really something special.

That dial is something else - I have a SRPB43J with the same dial and it's near impossible to photograph as the colour changes depending on the ambient lighting.

      • this watch is value +++

its a made in japan seiko

        Case Diameter : 41.7mm
        Case Thickness : 11.7mm
        Crystal/Glass Type : Sapphire Glass

Its all this… 42mm is a bit large but everything else is untouchable for the money

sure the 4r35 isnt super great but its baseline spec.

ok the dial is a bit boring…

        • Boring? That glittery shimmery coating is too blingy for me. Id prefer it was plain white dial, and no date. Id be even happier if 'SEIKO' etc was on the back only. Id be happy with Japan or even SEIKO on the front if maybe embossed slightly, and in a slightly different shade of white.

  • This is the only vid i could find of the dial https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RqYPeCs-jSs It has a glittery dial and indices, just so people know its not a flat white dial.

OzBargain has turned me into a watch lover.

    • Men don't really have many accessories to wear without looking conspicuous. A watch is the perfect item to really tie up your outfit. You don't need multiple watches either! A watch with a neutral and clean dial can always have its look changed simply by changing the strap.

Besides the beauty of the watches, I also just admire the inner workings of automatic watches.

    • Zoom in and look at the applied indices - beautiful. Great specs and watch for the price. But 42mm dress watches are not for me.

    • Should have photos like that on their website, looks mint.

Yeah the problem with Seiko is they have a really shit marketing team. They really need to work on their product pictures and promotional material.

  • I missed out on the SRPE15J cause I've got "too many" watches, but couldn't pass on this one sapphire+Japanese+snowflake face… Now I need to sell one or 2 watches…

  • The only Seiko I have is 5J22-0D30, the Kinetic Auto Relay Sportura. I bought it 18 years ago, still wear it almost everyday at work. Although there are scratches everywhere, the sapphire glass is scratchless. It was a great piece of tech back then with the kinetic and auto-relay function. Heck, even now 18 years later I don't know other watch manufacturers have produced watches with auto relay function. Too bad Seiko don't make this kind of watches anymore.

    • Did you ever had to change the capacitor in 18years? It seems like a good compromise between automatic/quartz and alternative to solar, but I've read it's quite expensive to change?

      • +1

No I haven't changed the capacitor. It definitely doesn't hold charge for long now but as long as I keep wearing it, it still works fine. If I don't use it for more than 3 days, the second hand will skip a second and the auto relay function doesn't work.

  • Really like this but it’s just too big for me. If the 38mm was the same price I’d get that. Also prefer the 3 o’clock date window on the 38mm. One of my other gripes is the textured indices.

    • +1

I remember asking Deepak about the 38mm variants and he said something about those two models not being a part of the normal lineup, so they're kind of special stock. They're not likely to get discounted.
