Looking for new ultra wide 34 or wider screen on a budget

Hi Ozbargainers, I have one LG 34WL500-B that I bought in 2019 for $400 AUD, and I would like to get another wide display to go with this one.

However, the cheapest one I could find was $700+, does anybody recommend a good ultra-wide monitor for work (spreadsheets/browsing, not gaming) , perhaps at the $500 range?

  • This is the cheapest ultrawide in that size i have seen that would be suitable for gaming. IPS screen.

Also known as the acer Nitro XV340CKP

Hah. I have searched high and low but if you want cheapo monitors you're going to have to wait, or pre-order and wait for possibly 2 to 3 months for stocks to come in. ultra-widescreen monitors have drastically risen in price ever since Work-from-home became the new trend.

All of these cheaper options are currently in "Pre Order" status.

Samsung LS34J550 is in stock in some places, Landmark Computers for 627 and Mwave for $650.

    • thank you so much for this!

  • Just wondering what you think of your current monitor, and what your thinking of buying?
I’m looking to get an Ultrawide for wfh but looking at 1440 options mainly.

    • I work mostly with Word/Excel/ Text Editor / SQL Development / Chrome , this monitor is great. I really like it for the price, as it allows me to view a lot of columns in excel and also fit 2 full windows side by side.

I wish price was closer to 400-500 :-(

      • Yeah, my usage is mainly CAD, PDFs and general office suite. Just thinking if I get 1080 then I’ll be wanting 1440 sooner than later…
Hoping to hold off long enough for prices to normalise

  • I took a gamble, bought a xiaomi 34 inch ultrawide 1440P 144Hz from taobao yesterday, paid ¥2400 deliveried around A$530 now, maybe gst on top. Hope everything will go smoothly, my first time bought a large item from China delivered.

    • Do you have a link for where you purchased from? Keen to hear your thoughts when it comes!

      • I dont know when it will come, maybe more than one month in this environment.

        • seems my monitor has been returned to the seller, maybe agent dont want to ship it to Australia because of the size or weight.

Just search on Taobao plenty of seller eg. https://detail.tmall.com/item.htm?id=607088048674&spm=a21wu.…

Reviews are pretty good but with the dollar being crap + potential GST not sure if its worth the issue if something were to go wrong.

    • Hey do you mind sharing how much your shipping cost and if gst was charged?
