Saw this almost-freebie on the Telstra Plus Rewards Shop. S20, S20+ cases are 22,000 points each for reference.

          yeah, they aren't great. the speaker is alright, but we use the tablet solely for the free Sesame St books on google play mentioned on here a while ago for my 1-year-old.

  • I'm holding out for the S20 plus, but prices are stubbornly too high for me. There is a cohort on gumtree that got these for 50% off as they are samsung staff - they're selling for around 65-70% of RRP. I just don't want to buy off them because of warranty issues

    • More likely they're using a .edu account to buy them cheaply.

      • One of them even showed me the receipt. He got an s20 ultra for $999. Showed a 50% discount.

        The education store deal is around 1399 for the ultra

          You wont have warranty issues

          • @BarryBargain88: Staff purchases are done through the Samsung online store. Standard warranty as long as you provide the invoice.

            However as a staff member, if you get caught onselling staff purchased items brand new, you will lose your job. Rightfully so.

              I'm surprised Telstra don't have mysterg shoppers scanning gummy for staff doing the wrong thing.

              @hypie: lol, if an Optus, Vodafone or Telstra employee on-sells their 50% Samsung code, you think Samsung has the power to sack them haha. No chance.

              • @BarryBargain88: It depends on what the terms and conditions are. If a company chooses to pass on value to its employees only for that value to be transferred to somebody else, it may be dismissable if they have been clear on the rule not to do it.

    Ordered, on the basis that "if you build it, they will come". No doubt the S20 Ultra will find its way to me once I have a case. If not, eBay.

      Good on you, except based on my past dealings on issues with Telstra Plus orders, there is no easy way for CSR to contact Telstra Plus directly.
      The lousy nature of the Web site may help Telstra a bit.

      I am also an honest ozbargainer. I reflected on how much of my time they wasted to fix issues with my service, including:

      • Disabling voicemail - 4 calls total
      • Getting international day pass turned off, which got automatically enabled the first 3 times they tried to disable voicemail (go figure)
      • Complaining that I get $0.01/$0.02 data charges every day I am overseas, despite data & data roaming being completely switched off. They refunded me the money but didn't fix the issue.

      Taking the above into account, they still owe me even if they send me the stupid case.

            I don't have an S20 Ultra. Technically, I am a Tel$tra shareholder so I am funding this pricing error. The share price is below T1 price…

        • S20 Ultra. Only S20 Ultra is 1 point. S20 and S20 Plus are 22,000 points.
          Telstra Plus team are slow as there is no easy to contact them directly.

    On the live chat I get an automated robot, and on a phone call it states they aren't help me with my query.

      just say "let me talk to someone" and the bots shuts up and redirects you. That the best help you will get with telstra at the moment or a brick wall, same same.

  • Oof missed this by quite a while but hopefully gets honoured and I hope one day I'll be able to use my points for something like one of these errors lol.

  • Had one of these LED cases for my s8.
    Lasted all of about 5 months before it would give me gibberish instead of time then after another month nothing at all. The ribbon in the cover seems to be rubbish.
    Definitely not worth the full rrp.

    • id imagine they have improved since then. I recall some old variations even inadvertently scratched the users screens (note 8 or s7 etc…). JB ended up selling those for $1.

    I've been looking at Telstra Rewards and some of them are utterly ridiculous. Use your points, plus pay more than the RRP of the item to get it? Why would anyone do that?

    • Because it could still be attractive in certain cases. Telstra offered 50,000 points for signing up for direct debit last year. For Android users, people were able to get Galaxy Buds for free with those points. However, for Apple users, they could use 40,000 points + $96 AUD to get AirPods 2 (there is no 50,000 points option). That technically beats the eBay Plus $99 AUD deal in which you really need to be super fast in clicking. The left over 10,000 points could be used to exchange for something else.

      There were more cheaper items on the Plus store before. I am guessing people have redeemed them.

      Telstra Plus is really only useful when Telstra offered sufficient quantity of bonus points for signing up to a deal.

      • I'm talking about deals where they're actually asking you to pay them over and above the retail price, plus use your points! There are a few of them in the rewards store that just make no sense to me.

    • Thanks for the info. Noticed that too. Looks like Telstra Plus team have improved in dealing with this type of errors. Previously, they would take ages to sort out a system error.
