Low battery warning; light vibrates every 30 seconds when below 10% battery.

Why do companies put such horrifyingly stupid "features" in. Imagine if someone's in a survival situation and they have 10% battery left - the last thing their flashlight should do is waste power vibrating (which is very power-intensive). There are other ways to indicate low battery without doing stupid shit like this.

Samsung phones do a similarly moronic thing: when you drop to 5% battery the screen dims to its absolute minimum and you can't change it. Which means you can't see the screen if you're outside and it's sunny, as has happened to me many times. This is not only braindead but I suspect it's illegal too since it would prevent someone in that situation from being able to make an emergency call.

Sorry for the vent, this unnecessarily, dangerously stupid shit just pisses me off so much.

Too many headlamps put a visible low battery indicator on the light….. Haptic or Audio is best for headlamps.

😄 didn’t know that. I kept feeling vibration but didn’t know where it came from when fishing. Seriously thought I was paranoid.

      I hear you on this!

Bluetooth headphones are really bad for this. A warning every 30 seconds, as if everyone can get to a charger the instant the warning sounds.

Nice light but the vibration and proprietary battery for the charger to work put me off.

    • Agreed. Would really like another quality headlamp that isn't as expensive as my Zebralight that uses the endless Eneloops I (and everyone else on OzBargain) has. Lots of cheap crap multiple AAA headlamps, but not many options in the quality 1 x AA headlamp space. Happy to be corrected.

      • Eneloops are great performers for low powered devices, but most modern torches are high power devices and require li-ion batteries. Personally I'd grab a headlamp that runs on a 14500 battery and grab a handful of them and a charger. You'll get access to more light output and a longer runtime at low output than you would on Eneloops.

If you are set on a 1x AA headlamp, www.liteshop.com.au has these:

        • ThruNite TH20 AA or 14500 battery LED headlamp
        • Fenix HL23 150 lumen 1XAA LED headlamp
        • Fenix HL50 XM-L2 365 lumen LED headlamp or torch

          Thanks for the reply.
The modes on the ThruNite rule that out … 1.6 lumens then the next increment is only slightly less than turbo 230/250 lumens.
Will keep my eye on deals for the HL50.
