Best Store Bought Pizza Base?

Howdy OzB-ers,

I've been getting into quarantine cooking in iso. (But not so much to make my own pizza dough from scratch.)

My friend told me Baker's delight does a nice pizza base.

What are your recommendations?

I would greatly appreciate if you could describe the product too - is it doughy and thick? Thinner? Crispy? Herbed flavour? Maybe sourdough-y?

Many thanks :)

Edit: one typo

ALDI Bases are not too bad. It is the most generic pizza base, just normal dough.

Kinda unrelated, but have you ever tried a Turkish pizza?

Experiment with some youtube tutorials or even ask one of the Turkish Pizza Makers how they did it. That is probably the best Pizza Base.

    • Thanks for the suggestions - nope never tried Turkish pizza!

Turkish Bakeries Stone Baked Pizza Bases
    At Woolworths. Possibly others.
No additives, preservatives ect and taste great
I cook the mini ones in the air fryer.

    • Yep, these are about the best store bought that I have found also.
I cook the pizzas on a stone.
I cook the base for 2 mins on the stone first and then take it out and add the toppings….and then pop it back in to cook

    • This has been mentioned more than once here - I'm going to try this! Thanks!

  • TipTop - 2 pack for $3 on regular special
Or for really thin, use Lebanese bread

Make your own. It's literally plain flour, water and yeast, with a pinch of salt or whatever. Much nicer, much lighter and much fresher tasting.

Once you make a batch you can divide into pizza portions and freeze for 3 months.

It is a lot of work to create the bases from scratch even though the result is better. Decided that the pre-made bases were a lot more efficient for us.

    • This is a good 1st step from going premade to making your own: https://shop.coles.com.au/a/greenacre/product/laucke-flour-m…
A bit pricey but I find the quality of the end product is better than any fully homemade version I've ever made (a lot fluffier / more air pockets than I've ever been able to achieve myself).

    • I'm sure from scratch is nicer…but the title of this thread is "best store bought pizza base" and I have also mentioned that I do not want to make my own.

Feel free to take any advice offered, or not.

    • 500g strong flour
      5g salt
      10g fresh yeast
      325ml lukewarm water
      Not hard at all

      literally plain flour

      plain flour..
      make your own
It's literally just grain that you need to grind into flour…

      ;)

They did ask for store bought

The ones at woolies that come in a pack of 2 and are about $5.50 in a clear packet with a black label….whatever that is called lol

    • Turkish Bakeries Stone Baked Pizza Bases 2 pack
      These are great!

    • I'm going to try these! A few people have recommended it :)
      Thanks

Tried it - it was really good! My new favourite. Thanks for the recommendation :)

I also tried bakers delight - so doughy and thick. Will never buy again.

Salt Meats Cheese has good base. It's been a while since I've grabbed some so can't remember what type they are but know I enjoyed it.

I'll keep it in mind - the closest store is 50 minute drive away so I will have to pick one up when lockdown is over and I'm in the city for work! Thanks!

  • Costco one is the best, I think.

    • Don't have a membership unfortunately - thanks for the suggestion

  • I make my own pizza dough but…

English muffins make excellent mini pizzas. Just throwing it out there :-)
