    Wouldn’t recommend EA Access.

I wanted a Madden game, so opted to try this instead of buying the game individually, in the hope I might get use out of their other titles. Whilst I don’t expect them to release a FIFA game early enough to cannibalise sales, we’re only a few months away from the next one.

This, combined with a reluctance to release their other titles in a timely fashion makes it quite worthless. You’d think that the spike in people staying home would be the perfect opportunity to release some games early and try to gain some good reputation, but then I remembered this is EA we’re talking about.

Xbox GamePass means Microsoft has to request access to games, and pay fees. EA publish their own games, so have no such hurdles, and therefore could release titles whenever they want, yet GamePass gets newer games much earlier than EA Access, it seems.

If we’re lucky, Jedi Fallen Order might make it into the vault in time for Christmas 2023.

      Wouldn’t recommend EA Access.

Because you get it late? Lol that's the whole idea. It's half the going rate of Game Pass. If someone was looking to buy this for $36 digitally, with no chance of resale, and only play it for 3-4 months, then no doubt they'd find this a better deal.

The vault games are clearly older titles, always have been always will be, they don't want to cannibalise sales. But you're paying around half the price of a AAA game to play a library of games for a whole year.

It's not like you don't know what's in the vault before you subscribe, so there's no surprises there

      • I’m aware that GamePass is more expensive, but the value ratio of price vs quantity (and quality) of games is significantly better. I thought this point was quite obvious and wouldn’t need spelling out, but here we are.

I purchased the subscription because it was the same price as Madden 20, outright, at the time. So, have I gotten better value than had I purchased Madden outright? Yes, because I happen to use FIFA. But is it good value compared to other subscription services? No, not at all.

I’m not sure what your point is. Games in the vault will obviously not be new releases; I said as much, in my comment (did you not read it, or are your comprehension skills poor?). But the “old games” in EA Access are older than the “old games” in other subscription services, and there is a significantly narrower selection. With pricing models outlined in other services, you’d expect more games, faster addition of games to the vault, or a cheaper price.

        • But is it good value compared to other subscription services? No, not at all.

In your opinion, sure, but your blanket recommendation of "(I) Wouldn't recommend EA Access" wasn't driven by poor service, or anything that couldn't have been predicted. You knew going into it what it offered, what your money was buying you. It was you who had incorrect expectations, driven by none other than your lack of research. You predicted games releasing early, or hoped for it, and through no fault of EA Access you were let down as a result.

          or a cheaper price.

Which it is. No one else offers a yearly game membership for $40 (cheaper if you get it on special)

You’re commenting as if I’m complaining about the lack of value I have received from EA Access. I said, explicitly, that I have received more value than my alternative choice (purchasing Madden 20 outright). There was no “incorrect expectations”; I have received everything I expected from Ea Access.
My opinion on its lack of value, as a subscription service, relative to competitors such as Game Pass, has nothing to do with my personal situation, as I did not go into this purchase with the intention of getting a subscription service. The lack of value vs other offerings is such that only people in my unique situations will find this useful, whereas someone who is looking for a subscription service will be left wanting.

Which it is. No one else offers a yearly game membership for $40

I am saying it should be cheaper than it already is; not cheaper than other offerings, which I am well aware of their higher price; hence my very first line being “I’m aware that GamePass is more expensive”.

Surely your comprehension skills are not this poor. You have to be acting disingenuously to be missing the mark by this much.

  • EA really needs to bring back 2vs2 online. Sick of the profiteering tactics.
