We are probably too busy playing animal crossing

      FTFY

Nope, still running around in Just Cause 4 like a champ (because it was free)

  • wow!

addit: but can't seem to purchase?

    • Edited the description. You need Japanese Paypal account to purchase

  • need vpn to buy?

    • No, but you will need a Japanese Credit card or eshop card and a Japanese account or change your Nintendo Account region to Japan

    • And a TON of data allowance.

  • Totally unrelated, any where I can get a Switch (Syd)?

    • Amazon

      • Nothing from them aside from marked up prices from third party sellers.

  • If you have a Japanese account, you should be able to play Celeste for free between 18-24 May.

    • And Switch Online membership presumably.

  • +1

Can you set up a japanese paypal and eshop account using an Australian card (eg. 28 Degrees)? Or does it have to be done with Revolut?

    • +2

Used my 28 Degrees card for my Japanese PayPal account.

      • +1

Trying to add my card now, and it says: "There's problem with your account. Please go to the resolution center so we can help you resolve this quickly."

  • Thanks! How did you find this out of curiosity?

  • +1

i just bought it with my JPN credit card, now i need a bigger micro SD…. 41gb download!
    Thanks OP

    • The shitty thing about this game specifically is that even if you bought it physically, it still required a ~40GB update.

2K are stingey af when it comes to Switch games.

Just have a look at the upcoming Borderlands or Bioshock collections

  • Is is better to make a new My Nintendo Account set to the Japan region? Or just swap the region for the existing one?

    • +1

Swapping us neatest, but can cause other issues if you have funds remaining on either region. If you have no funds on your Au account and will have no Yen remaining after this purchase, just change your region.

If you do have remaining funds that you don't wish to spend yet, consider a second account

      • Thanks, I just tried switching, but I have some funds still allocated to the account. Looks like I will have to spin up a second account.

  • +3

it seems Xbox and PS4 are also getting at this cheap price, in AU, is it coming to come to AUS eshop too then>?

    • Where you get this info?

    • Eshop sales usually start between 11:30PM Thursday and 1AM Friday in Australia, although there are always exceptions.

If it's not on sale by then in Australia, safe to assume 2K has skipped our region on Switch

      • +1

If I remember correctly, 2K19 went on sale for $3 USD last year, and it wasn't on sale on the Australian EShop. I hope it comes to the Aussie EShop but don't think it will.

You can always buy from other regions, which is what I did with 2k19, but being in our eshop would be easier.

  • If someone comes up with a way to get this without having to create a new Paypal account would be interested…

    • Japanese eshop cards from Playasia?

      • Not a bad option, they have added a markup.. but may consider it.. Will wait to see if we get a special on PC or AU for a few days before i pull the trigger.

If I switch my region to Japan, can I still access my existing purchases from the AUS eShop?

    • +2

      Of course.

    • +1

After switching my country to Japan still can't process with my aus paypal account.
Is it possible without having to create Japanese paypal account Thanks for the help in advance

      • +1

Buying a Japanese eshop card will also work. They're quite easy to find online from places like PlayAsia

if you buy a 500Y prepaid card and the game is 385 - will you still be able to switch back to the AU account with credit still in the JPN account ?

          • +1

@droodle: I think you lose the credit when you switch accounts.

  • Great game, been playing on the Xbox One using Game Pass, I was super keen to play this on Switch but found out pretty quickly that you can no longer play MyPlayer offline which is a deal breaker for me, considering the selling point for Switch is portability and playing on the go.

    • Yeah, overall i'm really disappointed in the online multiplayer features of the switch. Fifa etc…

Thanks for posting the deal, seems like way too much effort for me.

    • not specific to this game but have you tried using a wifi hotspot from your phone while on the go? games generally use very little data. found this to be life changing for the switch.

      • No I don't think internet is the issue, it was more regarding the lack of online players etc.

        • Don't think that is what he meant? He said you can no longer play MyTeam offline.

          • @Xastros: You're right I am not wanting to play PvP on the go, just the MyPlayer career mode.

            • @eggaz: Yeah in that case wifi hotspot will work. I used the same method to play diablo 3 seasons (always online required). Good luck.

      • Thanks for the tip, I'm not sure how it would behave during and between games with a choppy internet connection on the train.

User reviews for this game on metacritic make it sound like its not even worth this price..
    https://www.metacritic.com/game/playstation-4/nba-2k20/user-…
Link is PS4 but similar reviews for Switch & Xbone

    • It's would be worth the $ if you could play MyPlayer and MyTeam offline.

    • -1

It's the mob mentality review bombing that is used to rightfully criticise the micro-transactions implemented in the game

If you're after a quality basketball game, the core gameplay is still as good as ever.

    • Better worth if it was free, along with Fifa its profiting from its add ons and Ads

  • +1

The next question is what else is cheap on the Japanese store.

  • anyone know if your Myplayer transfers over from PS4? So could if i played a couple games on PS4 then move to the switch will it pick up where i left off?

    • Cross-save compatibility is not a feature.

Why would 2K pass up an opportunity to charge people more money?

  • Good price. I got NBA2k19 when it was like $2 US….played it once LOL

    • +1

I started it back up after watching The Last Dance. Remembered why I stopped, I don't know how to play.

  • Lucky to have a friend in JP. Can not pay using AU issued credit card.

    • +1

U can buy JPN eshop card online ;-)

      • Where?

        • +1

          Playasia has them

For all else, Google is your friend.

          • @Ninternet: Ninternet I can't see ¥500 in stock , can I buy ¥1000 use remaining balance later?

            • @Ibot: Only if you don't switch your region from Japan to any other region

  • +2

A good deal if you don’t own any of the 2k series to try out.

Have 2k18 on switch, played it once or twice.

These games don’t improve at all, just recycled yearly?

Even for 5 bucks it’s not worth the 40gb it takes up IMO

    • I got over 350 hours out of 2k18 on the switch. Absolutely loved the my team creation. (my player was very garbage though and the whole neighbourhood thing died after 2 weeks when 2k Australians servers started to get shutdown or bug out and 2k never fixed them).

Played the demos of 2k19 and 20 and experienced issues with thier online infrastructure to Australia. yet again.

I forgot what it was called but there was a game mode you could do where you just walked in with any other players and after 5 minutes you would both enter a game against AI players if not enough humans joined in. This stopped working after 2 weeks and people from the US said it was because people were earning coins from it at a faster rate than any other mode so it got gutted.

FYI Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is approx $21.62 on JPN eshop. $89.98 on AUS eshop

    • +1

The JP version doesn't have English support unfortunately.

      • +1

        Dang :(

        • Welp, guess we'll learn Japanese ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

  • +3

You need a Japanese mobile number to create a Japanese PayPal account.

Gonna have to buy a 1000 YEN NINTENDO ESHOP CARD for about $20 AUD.

The game is only 385 YEN.

It's also a 40GB download so will need much bigger SD card.

Hey I'm in Japan atm and would possibly consider getting some cards for people. I'd have to check what denominations are available at my local convenient store. Obviously playasia is the way to go but it might save some a few bucks.

in Japan, but still browses Ozb….
      true ozbargainer right here.

  • too much trouble for a rather overrated game. no thanks.

    • +3

      Thanks for letting everyone know

  • Anyone know if they fixed the huge pain in the ass in the switch 2K games where if you sleep the console it boots you out of the career mode - and you need to spend forever getting back there?

    • Doubt it.
The Switch is quite bad at running anything in the background which is why you can't download any games if the game you're currently playing has any online connectivity at all.

Also why there's no party chats.

Because career mode (for whatever nonsensical reason) can't keep track of your VC offline, it defaults to keeping all the interactive aspects of career mode strictly online. When the switch enters sleep mode, something happens that causes the temporary disconnect of internet usage which is why it would also kick you from any online game if you were to intentionally or accidentally hit sleep while playing any other online game.

  • Got it! Thanks, OP.

I used Play-Asia for the Japan Nintendo pre-paid card and got the code almost instantly.
