  • If you already got the hue why bother with another brand, especially wifi bulb? Gonna be headache every time you reset or update your router

    • I only needed a few extras for the kitchen bathroom and loo, so cheap enough @ $12.50 ea.

I looked at the Hue equivalent and couldn't justify at nearly 4 times the price.

I'm a tightar$e, I got the Hue Triple colour for nix on the Telstra Plus deal I posted.

Yes, I stocked up on Hue when they were this cheap.

But router update with wifi lights is no problem. Just use the same wifi name and password as before. Also, best to use a separate guest-style access point for your IoT devices, to isolate them from your personal LAN for security.

  • Some rough reviews there

  • Gee those reviews though!

  • Lenovo app is a dog. The bulbs are great. Ditched the Lenovo app and I use mine with brilliant smart app

  • Did you say these work with hue? Unlikely…

    • No

  • Is there any way to get these working on a physical switch or remote as well? I’ve got a set of LimitlessLED (Milight/Easybulbs) that have a RF Remote that works very well but can’t get them working with Google Home. The physical remote is handy to have on my bed side table so I don’t have to fire up the app or wake people up at night be chatting to Google.

    • Maybe some workaround with IFTTT and a suitable switch, Logitech POP.
Probably not worth it unless the bulbs are really special.
Just seen comment below about Tuya Smart Life, that might lead somewhere

  • pay a little more for the white hue bulbs

    • A little more? Where?

      • $21 at officeworks, usually come down to around the $15 mark, but yea even the Ikea ones will be better then this

Or Ikea tradfri that work with hue bridge. $15 at mo I think I saw

      • +1

Agreed. I got all colour Hue for everywhere, but I dont need colour ones for hall way and bathroom. I also missed $69 kit from Target, then I bought IKea ones as someone said those could be added to Hue bridge. And they works perfectly, bright enough, cheap and can be used with Hue sensor, switch.

  • Goodguys have this at $24 for a pair.

    • Ended today, shops closed

All the lenovo smart devices are a pain to set up. Not compatible with Android initially. Don't work with ipads either. I had to use an old iPhone to set up my bulb and socket the first time so it could flash update the new firmware to bring it onto the Tuya cloud. From there I just use Tuya Smart Life. Zero instructions that call out these limitations.

  • Looks like only 800 lumens - which I find too dim for a single light source in a small room.

To be fair, the vast majority of these 'smart lights' seem to top out at 800 lumens. Wish they would make more variants 900 lumens and up.

    • They are 900ish lumen at cooler Kelvin temps

If you already have Hue, you should’ve gone with Ikea Tradfri. They are cheap, easy to pair with Hue hub, they support Zigbee thus no reliance on wifi network. And in terms of coverage and reliability, mesh networks are better than wifi.

Got one of these as part of a bundle. A complete bitch to set up. Even got one swapped out thinking there was a fault. Basically, on first connection to the app they want a firmware update that then makes them incompatible with the app. Have to then download the Pro version of the app (or something like Tuya) to get it working.

  • I bought a 4-pack of RGB+CCT bulbs for $50 delivered from Kogan last night. Claimed 1050lm. Link here. They also do a 2-pack for $30. They're also Tuya based so will work with the same apps. An option if you want colour and tuneable white.
