HTC Vive Deluxe Audio Strap - $169.99 + Postage @ Vive Australia

180

Back in Stock! Technically RRP but you can't find it anywhere else at this price point besides from HTC themselves, usually out of stock. (And technically discontinued)

The Vive Deluxe Audio Strap is worthwhile upgrade if you own an HTC Vive or any other headset that supports attaching it via a mod (Oculus Quest, Rift S, etc.) Although technically not a 'deal' it's not sold anywhere anymore (discontinued supposedly) and where it is sold, it's at significant mark up ($350 On Amazon) so this is your chance to grab one at regular price before they go out of stock again. HTC has said they stopped making these and they won't be in stock again before but I suppose they still have some left? Just know this might be your last chance to get one as there is no word on if they are still making these or just clearing out inventory.

In terms of mods for other VR headsets such as WMR you can generally find someone who has modeled a 3D print part for attachment or DIY (See Thingiverse for the former). Additionally if you own a Quest or Rift S, Etsy and other store fronts have a lot of people selling quality 3D printed parts for attaching it, or it can be done with velcro/cable ties for a less professional looking but very functional solution.

Have Fun!

  • Wonder if this is a limited run or not?

    Edit: typo

    • They probably found old stock in the warehouse (this product has been around for a few years).

These have been unavailable for some time. There have been some high prices asked when they turn up on ebay (hundreds more). I upgraded in the meanwhile.

  • Is everyone who is buying this now using the vive wireless adapter?

    • I use a wireless adapter with mine. Works great.

No we are all using the Oculus Quest.

Some of us are waiting for the Index.

some of us are waiting for the index 2.

I'm dubious that the Valve Index will come to Australia anytime soon. If you already have a headset then great! But to anyone waiting for the Index to finally step into the world of VR I'd say just buy the Rift S or Quest if you can, the Index is not worth waiting for, mainly because we don't have any idea whether or not Valve is even considering it and you'll still get the awe of VR in any other headset.

        • I already have a Vive. Hence why I'm waiting for the Index instead of sidegrading to anything else.

        • Can you get either of those headsets again yet? Last I looked they were all sold out everywhere

          • @iLoveYourFace: Everything VR related is sold out during quarantine sadly. In regards to waiting for the Index I'm actually keen to see what the Reverb G2 might be, the headset should definitely be there with the Index in terms of resolution and (hopefully!) refresh rate if they do everything right + the fact that it's built with SteamVR more in mind rather than WMR might sell me on it, just wonder what the controller situation is. It will also very likely be available in Australia from day one as with all other HP headsets.

    • Not me, I have an Oculus Go and ACER WMR.

      This is good

I'm pleasantly surprised; I doubted that we'd ever see these again.

I bought one for my Quest and the adapters from Thingiverse (went with a bright nVidia-ish green for highlighted contrast with the black everything of the Frankenquest). Worked well.

    Welp…FrankenQuest here I come!
