Common Projects Achilles Low $216 (RRP $490) - Free Express Shipping @ Subtype

590
ST10

Hey guys,

Was scrolling google looking for Nike ACG and saw that Subtype added new sale items. Common Projects for $240 has been an OzBargain worthy price in the past. Also bare in mind, Women's CPs are down to $150 but only 1 size available. Links below:

Women's White Sole Blush
Men's Vintage White - Usually these solid block colours don't go on too much of a sale, so really tempting tbh

Also check out the Nike ACG on sale while you're there, big fan of the quality on those pieces, have a couple t-shirts and they're nice and thick.

Edit Just Used Honey and found you can get a 10% off with ST10!

    Very good price.

I’ve owned 3 common project sneakers that have been bought on sale.
And I can safely say the coloured sole ones look good online but are hideous in real life

    • wah so rich..

      • Ballin

    • Did you grab a 4th pair today?

  • Great price. Good find OP!

I'd be tempted if they had my size but I also just bought the (solid) blush ones from David Jones for $258.

  • Damn only sz44 avaliable

Good find, recently there was a teardown of these published on youtube and unfortunately it's not too rosy for them in terms of quality.

Still cheap if joining the hype train is down your alley though.

Oh wow. Wonder if they are dropping price in anticipation of the drop in demand

    • Ha, watched that a couple days ago as it came up on my YouTube recommended, was at the back of my mind when posting this deal. Thank you!

    • +1

Yeah, pretty much paying for the brand with these, they are not so bad in terms of quality but definitely not for this price.

These sorts of videos have been everywhere lately.

The poor people are trying to make rich people feel stupid so that they can feel good about themselves.

  • Vintage white looks good, here is a better pic: https://www.endclothing.com/au/common-projects-original-achi…

    Great deal

  • Good find OP.

How do people keep these white shoes squeaky clean?

    • +1

by wearing them in city environments only on sunny days

  • Good price but only the unpopular colourways.

  • I have the vintage sole ones which I bought on sale years ago, IMO they're the best looking of the lot (the ones on sale, anyway). Anyway I just bought another pair, screw it. Thanks OP, good find!

  • Emperor’s new…trainers??

  • Also the Veja X Rick Owens are half price. Stack with ST10 code for $180 delivered. 🤘

    • Thoughts on these vs the normal Veja condor, which are half the price?

      • Comes down to personal taste. I like Rick Owens as a designer and this is the best price i've seen for this shoe that only came out 6 months ago.

Unpopular opinion here but this brand of shoes uses low quality materials for what you're paying. There's a breakdown on YouTube showing the difference between better quality goods.

So which brand is higher quality than CP when it comes to white minimalistic sneakers?

They are still the best quality sneakers you can buy even though you pay 50% markup for the brand. But isn't this the case with every brand? You could tear down any luxury product and point out the cost of materials and construction doesn't equal the price tag.

        Stan's?

When you get them for < ~$50.

        • Sure but we are not talking about value for money. I was asking about the best money can buy. People buy $2,000 iPhones Pro not because it's value for money. They buy because it's the best money can buy. The same goes for Common Projects.

          • @lubos: They're not really the best money can buy though, there are bespoke makers as well as much nicer brands, I'd take a pair of Visvim's over Common Projects any day.

Depends very largely on the brand, mostly hyped up brands like Common Projects will sacrifice in quality and cut corners wherever they can. There are definitely brands that give you more bang for the buck, typically smaller brands or brands that don't solely rely on hype like Red Wings which were reviewed quite favourably.

        • I’ve got a pair of Wings + Horns, which are mostly indistinguishable to Common Projects. They look as new after 3 years of casual use. Canadian brand, made in Italy. Got them on special through The Iconic. Can recommend if you find on special

      • minimalist white sneaker with higher quality upper leather than cps:

(had a couple of pairs left for $248.64 shipped to australia when i posted this)

        https://www.endclothing.com/au/buttero-tanino-low-sneaker-b4…

lined version seems to use thinner leather, but i believe both versions are veg tanned:

        https://www.endclothing.com/au/buttero-lined-tanino-low-snea…

        • Buttero are good but is the quality actually better or simply on par, some of my CPs are still kicking on after 7 years with regular wear… so seems pretty decent quality to me.

          • @billbro: yeah. i agree that common projects are decent quality.

the main complaint that the youtube guy had with the cps seemed to be the upper leather quality - that it wasn't as good as it could be for the price.

buttero definitely uses more expensive leather, but it probably wont make that much difference to how good they look or how long they last.

looking at the photos though, i personally can see the difference in quality (the common projects leather is much more pigmented/corrected which makes it look plasticky compared to the more natural buttero leather)

My last pair of low original Achilles cost me around $230 from memory.
