      When comparing the energy consumption of appliances specially fridges, it is better to compare the number of KWH consumed annually which is shown below the stars instead of the Star Rating. Some fridges with 4 stars will consume 700kwh annually but other fridges with 2 stars might consume only 500kwh annually. The test for these kwh numbers are pretty standard. Remember, these kwh figures is what you are paying on your electric bill and I think they are a better indicator of energy consumption than the star rating. So choose the right size you need/want and then compare the kwh figures.
