Domino's Pizza with Wrong Toppings

Hello guys. I ordered a Domino's Traditional Large Pizza "Supreme". While ordering, I removed Pineapple toppings as I'm allergic to the fruit (mouth develops rashes inside if eaten). However, the pizza given to me had chunks of Pineapples on it. They did not "remove" the topping. I have the store receipt with me which clearly states "NO Pineapple" I also have snapped a photo of the pizza clearly showing the Pineapple topping on it.

I contacted Domino's support and they replied that the store in question is a Locally Owned Store, and so I was told to call them up.

What would Domino's do in such a case? And how should I approach them? Will they give me another Pizza?

    did u call them?
    are u eating it now
    or was it yesterday?

  • And how should I approach them?

How did you approach the main support contact? You should probably just do the same thing.

  • Main Support Contact was on chat.
Local Store would have to be on-call I guess. Just wanted to know is it fair to expect a new pizza. I think yes, but just wanted to know.

yes call them and get the pizza you asked for if you arent happy with the one you got.

they wont force you to eat the pineapple if you dont want to
otherwise enjoy the pineapple and mouth rashes

I can't tell if your so majorly ill-equipped to be an adult or just a troll.

  • Yes, I think if you approach the store they will re-make you the pizza, but if the pizza has been all eaten I don't think they would be keen. A few slices eaten wouldn't matter.

If you tell us the order number we can go online and download the Dominos Pizza Checker photo.

The manager will personally pick the pineapple off the pizza for you. lol

    • +2

He will also eat the pineapple in your presence, as show of solidarity. If he doesn't do this, call a lawyer and get ready to launch a law suit

Ive had similar happen before, where I had added on cherry tomatoes for an extra $ and it had no tomatoes. I sent a feedback form to Dominoes, and they gave me a code for a free Large traditional pizza. I told them I wasn't comfortable calling them, I dont like to personally complain about food as I get paranoid that it might get sent out with 'extra' toppings.

  • I think dominos procedure is typically to contact store, but I did find a way to email head office once anyway. They basically just gave me a free coupon for another pizza. IMO not sure the worth as I don't rememeber if it includes delivery or not. But I ended up using it with a delivery coupon deal as well so I think it stacked?

I look forward to the next forum post which will be from Domino's asking Ozbargain if they should make another pizza without pineapple or just remove the pieces by hand and reheat.

Ask your parents to call the store.

    OMG.

    Get a life.

  • Most likely they'd either replace the pizza now or give you a voucher for one next time. Considering it's an allergy issue, I'm sure they'd replace the pizza now.

But surely it would have been quicker to call the store directly rather than the head office or web chat. Either way, the prompt from them to call the store rather than waiting an hour for 9 replies from Ozbargain would have lead you in the right direction. This is as bad, if not worse than the "no insurance" posts.

Last time I ordered from Dominos they made the pizza wrong three times, and on the last time the manager says 'this is the lasts time we are replacing it.' I told him since they'd already had 3 failed attempts and his attitude sucked I wanted a refund.

    • What was the order?

      • 2 pizzas and garlic bread. one Supreme and one whatever the one is with hollandaise sauce. The first one had mayo instead of the right sauce, the second one was a ham and pineapple.

        • First laugh of the morning. That's terrible of them.

If they made it wrong ten times, it’s still not your fault. Definitely hit up their national contact centre, because clearly that manager needs some retraining.

    • What was wrong with it?

Who knows…. Most likely replace it for free would be MY guess. But maybe you could do something like you know

I was told to call them up.

Oh that would be a great idea.

Personally, and most logically, I would be asking a forum what to do.

I am so sorry for what you had to go through.

I get it, my sister I allergic to fresh fruit, and has caused her lots of problems her whole life, but seriously these people are working for quite a low amount, and are probably getting hammered all night long, but just give the store a call, I am sure they would make you another one or give you credit whenever you order next time. Don’t call head office and get a local franchise in trouble, just call the store.

Tell them your throat swelled up after you ate their pineapple filled pizza and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. And while you were in hospital you contracted Covid19. Give you a free pizza or else you'll see them in court.

    • not really cause in T&C it says "We cannot guarantee 100% that our pizzas are allergen or gluten free. Allergen and gluten brochures are available in store and online for information on Domino’s products. Please consider these brochures carefully. Domino’s will not be liable for any costs whatsoever, including medical costs, if a customer has any adverse reaction to a Domino’s product"

However, can argue in court that they didn't do their duty of care and there were big chunks

Why would you post here and not call them?

I would wager that they'd replace the pizza for you if you hadn't touched it, you could also ask them to throw in a side or a garlic bread. Businesses that screw up food orders are usually pretty good with making a new item for you.

    • Similar to this I was not comfortable calling the Store directly. I would rather expect the Head Office to handle such issues. But they told me to call up the store. Hence this post to find out what most guys have done in such situations. Turns out, to call them is the best option. Few others have also reported that they were given a Voucher for a future use. I was expecting the same but they did not give me any such voucher and told to call the store.

I had picked up the pizza and reached home late. I didnt open it on the way to check :D but after reaching home noticed the Pineapple

      • Ah, fair enough. Yeah, it's always best to just call the store, if you don't get traction with an issue escalate to head office if possible. Depends on what the problem is though, with restaurants or take away places I'd call them. I would only contact head office if the circumstances warranted it.. such as if I bought something online and it came damaged, then I'd contact head office via email as the returns department could be part of HO.

I work for a Pizza store here in New Zealand.
I don’t work for and don’t represent Dominos, but if that happened in the store I worked at, you’d get a new Pizza made how it was supposed to be made, and likely receive a compensation voucher to the value of one free Pizza

Trouble with calling the store to get a replacement pizza is that we'll have other pizzas and garlic bread going cold while we wait, or have to eat a single pizza then the other later instead of mixing it up. Trivial I know, but this is a reason for people to just suck it up and ready out (if its not allergy related of course)

Traditional Pizza doesn't have any of the garbage that Domino puts on top.. try local Italian pizza restaurants..

Garlic bread is an American invention as are pizzas with too many topings

  • Couldn't you just pick them off?

  • Wait. What about:

"DOM Pizza Checker uses advanced machine learning, artificial intelligence and sensor technology to identify pizza type, even topping distribution and correct toppings."
    https://dompizzachecker.dominos.com.au/

    Epic fail, DOM.

    • Hmm, if they didn't put -pineapple on the order, it's possible that DOM worked correctly.

    • +1

Yes. Absolutely. I think maybe it does not work in all stores. I still have the Live Pizza Tracker Open for my order and it states:
"Your Pizza is made but the Photo can't be processed." :-(
      Screenshot: https://imgur.com/Z4kW1ko

  • When I called pizza hut, I got a free pizza for our next order when they got one of our pizzas wrong. Got to keep the wrong pizza also. Next time we ordered I just mentioned it on the phone. I'm sure domino's have a similar policy.

Edit: the word pizza looks funny after looking at it so much. It looks like it shouldn't sound the way we pronounce it. Ie it should be spelled peats-zah.

Update: On calling up the store, they asked me for a Photo of the Pizza (glad I had taken it). On sending them the photo, they provided a credit for another Large Traditional Pizza for future use. Just picked it up now. No pineapple this time :D

    • That's good to know!
Domino's usually in that case you just need to call them up straight and show proof. then they will give you another one.
