Are these any good? The last time I bought a 20,000 off ebay it is barely 10,000 in useage. It does seem you get what you pay for.

    • Was it a Romoss? That's unusual. Also did you take into account the efficiency and the 3.7v battery vs 5v+ output?

      • Was not a romoss. Did not take into account anything besides how many charges I got from same device being charged.

        • +1

The mAh capacity is for the internal 3.7v in the powerbank. At 5v+ output you'll get 74% of the rated capacity. It's not unusual for cheapies to be below 80% efficiency, with maybe some Romoss up to 93%. At 80% you'll get ~10800mAh out of a 20000mAh powerbank.

          • +1

@Lukian: The mAh capacity of the battery in the device it's charging will also be quoted at 3.7V, so the only losses should be due to efficiency when converting up to 5 (power bank) and back to 3.7 (phone/device).

I have the 20k version of this one, such a tank and love the fast charging. Pretty hefty though so can't imagine lugging around a 30k, tempting as it is

      • +2

I prefer the ones without fast charging tech for this reason, much lighter weight :)

This model is a whopping 671g.

  • Out of interest, do you have a photo of the inside of this power bank? I am curious to know if it has 18650 cells on the inside? Thanks

    • +1

      Li-polymer, so unlikely 18650s.

      • Cheers, I would've thought so too. I've got a few Romoss 18650 power banks and they've been great (though they weigh a far bit). I've had two Xiaomi Li-Po or similar expand so I'm trying to stick to 18650 cells.

      • I have the model without the screen and would love to see inside one of these… Would not surprise me to find 8 x 3800mah 21700cells inside as it is about the right size with good padding around the cells. Marketing is often quite out of touch with the technology side of things, this combined with the language barrier associated with Romoss being a foreign company (Chinese if i'm not mistaken), it is quite common to see li-Ion products marketed as Lithium Polymer. If anyone has actually opened one of these I would love to see some pictures.

not getting the discount when adding to cart, keeps saying add another 1 for discount?

    • discount shown at check out page.

      • +1

Does not show up for me , not on the app anyway.

        • Just bought one, seems you need to choose "buy it now" rather than "add to cart" to have 20% off activated.

  • Need clearance before taking on board a plane. 26800mAh ones where its at.

    • For all that flying we’re doing?

Do they even check in Oz?

      • +1

Only place I've had people check around the world is Sydney Domestic… every single time. Qantas/Jetstar require an email for approval and the usually give you a 12 month pass. Virgin just ask you to declare at check in.

Please note that non-spillable batteries need to be under 100Wh capacity to be carried on airplanes. This one: 5V * 30000mAh = 150Wh so not able to bring it with you when travelling

    • +2

That's not how you do the calculation though, most li battery nominal voltage is somewhere from 3.6-3.8V, most commonly 3.7V. This one if 30000mAh will be at 111Wh.
For eg, the spec of the Sense 8+ here
They aren't banned to be carried on plane but you do need to seek clearance, most will allow it.

    soooooo heavy

No discount for me at the checkout

    • Just bought one, seems you need to choose "buy it now" rather than "add to cart" to have 20% off activated.

  • OP, any chance of a similar discount on the 20k version?

  • Can anyone clarify if it's really 30000mAh (111Wh) or 26800mAh (99.16Wh) like on the package in the last image of the listing? If it's the later then can be carried on plane just fine without seeking clearance.

Yes the Wh is printed on the power banks and they're correct.

    • Almost 3 times cheaper
