LG C9 65” Display Model?

Hi all.

Just curious how much would you all be willing to buy a LG C9 65” tv for? It’s a display model. Have been offered from JB for $2700. Is this a good price?

Update: bought the tv. Didn’t see any problems with it in store. Some very very slight burn in at the top right but I’ve run one of those OLED burn in vids on YouTube for 2 hours and it seems to have disappeared which is good.
Has 2200 hours on it. Couldn’t be bothered waiting for the cx to make its way down to that price. Very happy with it otherwise!

  • How long has it been on display for?

You can google how to check the "Power On Time". I think if the hours are under 3,000 hours is fair. LG claims 30,000 hours between burn in.

(Yes it has been this price in the past for brand new but that ain't happening again.)

    • Do you know how to check the power on time at all?

I googled it and I’m assuming it’s the same as this?
Settings - > General -> About this TV -> Total Power On Time.

Yep that's close, I checked on my C9 and Settings - > General -> About this TV > TV Information.

I would wait as usually May/June the updated models come in hence reducing the price further. The larger stores eg HN and the like ask top dollar for a demo unit where you can buy brand new for the same price or even cheaper.
However it is really up to you whether you classify want vs need.
    Cheers

    • Isn’t CX already for sale?

The stores around me don’t have any stock of the C9 left and the CX replacement is already on sale

  • Display models are usually on display 24/7 for months on end. Guess it depends on how long its been on display.

    • Or they’re on for 12+ hours and then have their power turned off rather than turning off via the remote and the compensation and protection cycles preventing burn-in don’t run.

If I were you, I would get a USB with some “burn in test” videos in order to check whether there are any screen artefacts. Ask to plug it into the TV at the store, and check whether there are any burn in areas. Alternatively, come up with a selection of different colour stills which are all one colour (ie, grey, white, blue, red, etc). You really are at the mercy of how the TV has been used in the store. If it has only been playing Fox Sports for it’s entire life, it could very well have a logo artefact burned in.

  • I’d buy it for $2000 otherwise wait until you can afford a CX. This TV could last you many years, you don’t want to compromise quality.
