New FTTB nbn Connection

Will move to my new home this weekend and i need NBN internet, FTTB is available. I'm looking for 100/20 or 100/40 and i have no interest in anything else (no telephony or fetch etc) Just internet.
I'm probably going with ABB, price seems alright and has good reputation. Any alternatives?

What about modem though? I have a tp-Link Archer mr200, wondering if that will work? Any other alternatives? Ot should i go for the Netcomm NF18ACV that they are selling?

  • FTTB or FTTP?

If it is FTTB see if TPG can offer service to your property - considerably cheaper (100/40 Unlimited $59/month) and not delivered via NBN.

  • Many ISPs provide the router/modem. They're mostly good enough but you may need an extender or another router if you want to tweak your specs.
Have a look here for past deals https://www.ozbargain.com.au/tag/nbn

Personally, I've gone for the cheapest non 12mb/s NBN that I could find. I'm generally not using that extra download speed but the upload speed is the biggest QoL improvement. I'm on the belong 30/20 deal for $55/month.

Firstly we must ask why you think you require NBN100?
How many people will be using the internet at the same time and for waht purpose?

Unless you will have 4 or more people streaming 4K movies all at the same time its a waste of money.

Secondly rule of thumb- always go with the modem supplied or "officially" recommended by the internet provider. This is the only one for which they will provide support.

Use anything else and any internet problem will be deemed to be your problem unless you can prove otherwise and that usually takes a long argument.
