Anywhere I Can find Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire with over 20% off RRP?

Interested in buying Garmin Fenix 6X Sapphire. I get 20% off through BUPA but was wondering if there is anyway of getting over 20% off RRP. I was hoping that Rebel will have 20% storewide today and then I could use discounted gift cards but that did not happen.

  • What is rrp?

      • What you can do is create an account with Kogan. Add the Fenix 6 to your cart and just leave it there.

You will get spammed emails stating 'We have left your product in the cart', however, after a couple of days they send a targeted offer - 20% off selected Garmin watches.

I've had this come up twice now and just grabbed one today.

        See how you go.

        • Thanks for this tip, just did exactly this and worked perfectly. I realise a better discount will most likely come along but it feels good to have pulled the trigger anyway. Got the 6X sapphire for me and a venu for my daughter. An expensive day, but at at least 20% less than RRP.

Is it really worth that much more than the 5X?

    • Very valid point. As such I am a technology enthusiast and therefore prefer latest technology. 5X is 2 generations old. 5X < 5X+ <6X+. I am not a triathlete however what I like about 6X+ is the ability to control "power management" i.e. the battery could last up to 25+ days. Plus it has few more additions like ability to store music, stress meter, Garmin pay etc.

My Vivofit 3 music has Garmin Pay, stores music, measures stress and has great battery life.

This watch has really nice mapping abilities though.

Are you planning on using it more as a smart watch or a multi-sport watch? If it's mainly as a smart watch, you'll be very unimpressed by it, ConnectIQ is pretty average. Also do you actually need the toughness the fenix, let alone the sapphire model has to offer?
The power management function sounds great but if you're looking at buying this watch for music, stress meter and all the smart watch functions they're the things that get turned off first to get 25+ days of battery life.
I've had my fenix 6pro for about half a year now and I haven't used the power management function at all and I do a lot of running, cycling and hiking.

Mostly as a basic smartwatch, plus some tracking of steps, sleep and occasional cycling/ gym/ hiking. I had Vivoactive earlier and liked it. Then I moved to Samsung Frontier and eventually sold it because of my love for mechanical watches as they were not get any wrist time and I have a few of those. Now I am rethinking of buying a smartwatch but at the same time I don't think I like the idea of charging watch everyday.

What attracts me to Fenix 6X is:
          1. Technologically it's supposed to be advanced
          2. It's built like a tank and I hate to wear plastic on my wrist, that's why all my current watches are mechanical/automatic expect Seiko Arnie.
          3. I like the idea of maps in this watch, plus garmin pay etc. etc.
          4. Once I have this, I am unlikely to get bored of it (hopefully) as I typically just sell stuff to try something new every now and then (my wife hates it when I do that)

@ozioziozi: I'm in the same boat. I want a tough watch with fitness features and great battery life. There are very few options with this criteria.
            1. Fenix 6 Sapphire
            2. Garmin Instinct (also old tech)
            3. Gshock GBDH1000 (no heart HRM strap pairing)

Anything else I'm afraid I'll scratch up within the week.

EOFY sales coming soon though …

@ozioziozi: fair enough, it is a great watch and if it is anything like a fenix 3 it will last years! (had my old fenix 3 for around 5 years, only upgraded because the 6 was a gift).

    AIA Vitiality :P

  • Just wait for the next time this comes up https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/511301

    • You reckon that was intentional? Geez I hope so.

    • Don't think its going to happen again. I missed it by few seconds. I added the item to the card and used AMEX and got an error when pressed enter. The error didn't specify the exact issue and was a generic message saying "Payment could not be processed". I then restarted the transition and again tried AMEX and got the same error. By the time I tried using Mastercard, the code expired!! Can't believe that I missed it by a few seconds.

I bought some things I don't even use, but wish I bought more. lol

AIA Vitality you can get 25% off, hit me up if you are interested.

Or just kick yourself in the pants knowing you saw the 50% off sale and didn't think it was worth the extra to upgrade your 5X to the new 6x pro solar. Then regret it and refuse to pay anymore than 50% RRP when it was on sale.

    • Hi knobbs,

I started a separate thread before being pointed to this one.

Would be so kind to check if the following Garmin model is available through AIA Vitality: Quatix 6

      Many thanks!

I see you got the answer in the other thread.

So I was able to get a price match from Rebel Sport ($1,1,49) for the Fenix 6 Pro to amazon.com.au ($937.94).
Not quite 20 percent off but close enough.
Also, given I am not travelling anywhere anytime soon I decided to spend 79,000 Qantas points on a Rebel Sport $500 gift voucher.
So, cost on the credit card was only $437.94.
    Not too shabby.

    • any issues price matching Amazon, is it normal for them?

might do the same but don't want to convert the points to Rebel gift card and then realise they won't price match.

The woman I spoke to had no issues price matching Amazon.

If you're worried. Get the price match first (you don't have to use it right away, it lasts 1 week) and then do the gift card conversion (took 1 day for mine to get emailed through from Qantas).

P.S. Best to call their helpline (choose option 4 - I waited 2 minutes on hold). The online form sucks and responses are slow.
