Advice for a dual sim cost reduction strategy

I have dual sim phones and two numbers. The First is on Aldi Payg but it data gets over very fast even when checking maps.

I am thinking to move the first one to a flat AUD 5 plan from dodo.

The second can be for data only or should I just go for a 10 AUD amaysim plan?

Or is there any annual scheme?

it really depends what you use them for…
    calls?

This looks good for low speed data.

    • Calls when not at home

This "$15 plan is now $5 per month (for 12 months)" seems nice

Second number make it throw away, grab Kogan $5 Sim plan ($40 plan) always on sale atleast till now or buy starter packs when special $5/$10 etc

We need more info. What do you use the two numbers for? Personal/work/something else? Do you need to 'keep' a number on one or both of the sims or are you happy to have a new number every month (say, if you only use a sim for extra data)? And how much calling/text/mms/data have you been using each month?

    • No 1 is to use as personal permanent number.

number 2 is for a business but that is used for whatsapp as we take orders only on whatsapp.

I think I will take an amaysim number

  • why are you using PAYG on the first sim, if it is using data? either add a data plan, or set your phone to use the data from the second sim.

and if you dont need calls on the second sim, then you dont actually need the sim at all. you can use whatsapp for this number even if the sim card isnt in the phone.
if data is set to the first sim, then the second sim is only used for calls and sms, which you said arent needed.
so this sim isnt being used, and you better just set it to aldi PAYG with 1 year expiry, leave it in the phone, and ignore it. or take it out of the phone, doesnt really matter

then use your first sim with a proper data package from any provider
if you wanna save a few dollars with dual sim, it means signing up for new phone numbers with cheap discount offers, then throwing them away when its over

    • I rarely use data. I go out just 2 days a week to the uni. But having the option to have data is good.

I don't take calls on second sim so was thinking to use it for some data sim. I use two whatsapp on this phone already.

My choice if possible would be

      sim 1 $5 dodo
      and
      sim2 cheap data with rollover.

Why do you have or need 2 sims and 2 phone numbers
    Complete waste of money

You're best option is e.tel $9.95/mth plan with unlimited calls and txt and 3GB data plus $9.95 credit towards overseas call @ 10c/min and/or picture MMS @ 20c ea.

Kogan has the best annual plans
For you $150pa for unlimited calls, SMS and MMS with 80GB anytime data
    Works out about $12.30pm

    • Not sure why you are being downvoted but I do need two different phone numbers even if I need to pay more.

This Kogan deal looks nice though.
