Need a Original Key for a Toyota 2004

Lost my keys at home (somewhere) and only have one copy remaining. If need be I need to get a original key that's programmable to make more.

How much do I anticipate to spend? $600, $400, $300 from dealer? Just take my log book and get a original key made?

TL DR: lost original key. need original key not copy to make further copies. it's a corolla

  • Does the log book have your VIN in it? I think that's what they need?

Mister Minit was able to make a working key with remote for me for $200 for my 2005 camry.
The dealers will just loot you.

Have you checked in the waste paper basket?

    • I'm getting an eye twitch just thinking about that other thread.

  • I appreciate the tl;dr but it was probably not required on this occasion.

    tl;dr tl;dr not required

  • I was quote $500 for a genuine replacement from Toyota. You can get a replacement on ebay and get a locksmith to cut and program. Be careful as the different keys have different chips so may not work. Should set you back $200 total as techno noted.

  • Guy I think I need a non copy key and my concern is that I dont have a original key to make a copy so I need to somehow get another one somehow if it works via mister mint or etc. They need a original key to program the other keys from a original key

    • No,They dont need the master key.I only had the grey valet key and Mister Minit still did it for me.

      • just need the vin then aye?

        • I dont remember giving any VIN.But he had to come to my car to complete the process.Just call your local Mister Minit and check with them.

  • Your best bet is to contact a locksmith. I'm fairly sure you can copy a copied key. What they need is the code that matches to your car and a key that's copied will have that data.

A dealer will have super inflated prices. I'd avoid them unless absolutely necessary.

  • Mr Minit or a mobile locksmith that specialises in car keys.
