NZ Campervans from $29 a Day [until Oct 31st], $1 Deposit @ MightyCampers

181

Yes borders are closed. But they'll hopefully reopen soonish, and you can book for just $1 deposit, for dates up to October. It's a great deal for Kiwis and hopefully a great deal for Aussies soon when the trans-Tasman bubble becomes a reality.

Upside: NZ domestic tourism prices are plummeting, and so are campervans - your transport and accommodation from $29 a night.
Downside: You might lose a $1 deposit if borders don't open in time.

From their site:

Been stuck indoors for weeks? We feel you.

These are unusual times so we have put together our Get Moving Promotion as a way to say thank you for your incredible efforts. This is a chance for you to get out in one of our motorhomes, and take a much needed holiday at incredible prices you may never see again. Whilst we have our beautiful Aotearoa all to ourselves, there’s never been a better moment to go explore our backyards, safe in one of our self-contained campervans or motorhomes. We believe everyone deserves to see their beautiful country and our regions deserve to be visited by everyone. As you venture out, you’ll also be supporting the Kiwis across our country that have been affected by COVID-19.

The deal Prices are slashed for travel up until 31 October 2020 - from just $29 per day. That’s a three day holiday from only $87. We’ve also reduced our Liability Reduction option to $10 per day, and Inclusive Pack to $15 per day. Just book online or via our contact centre by 19 July 2020 to get our ‘Get Moving' deal.

    • +21

Yes, of course they do, and they'll inform both Governments when ready.

    • I don't know that anyone knows yet :/

  • thats really good, site seems to have the hug of death at the moment. i have a car booked in sep for a trip thats in limbo, id rather go with a van tbh

Have you also checked Spaceship rentals - theirs are starting at $14 a day!

    • +2

i booked a spaceship last year and if flying into christchurch i would 100% recommend this bunch. decent vehicle and really nice service, plus they do after hours pickup if you are getting one of those flights arriving after midnight. only 20 mins walk from the airport too

Deal specifically says that you can cancel for free 7 days before you travel

      • You are right, I just found this in the T and C on the booking page where you give the cc information. Hopefully it would be all good..

  • Is anyone having any luck booking? The website keeps crashing for me…

    • it took quite a few attempts for me

      • Thanks. I'm on what must be now my 10th attempt!

        • the 'book now' button is basically dead for me!

edit: i pressed 'book now' for about 1.5 hours… got there eventually.

Back in ~2015, $25 NZD was the "off peak" (cold month) rate for Spaceships campers when I was over there

It was cheaper than a rental car!

Not saying this isn't a good deal - it definitely is - but shop around as I suspect most mobs will be offering similar pricing.

FYI - sleeping in a car in a NZ winter is for the brave! 🥶

  • Is this just a way for them to get some cash flow? Would be worried they go bust and you lose your money.

  • -5

There is no tentative plans to have any travel by the end of Oct.

Spend your $1 on a 7-11 coffee, at least you'll get it.

  • Damn, still no luck having my booking go through, keeps spitting back "Transaction was deadlocked on lock | communication buffer resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction."

    • Yeah, Kiwis having issues too over on cheapies. It's made national news there, so suspect there'll be a big load during daylight hours at least for a couple of days :/

  • I've been trying on and off for the last few hours just to search for availability https://booking.mightycampers.co.nz/flexible-search

Keep getting message saying website experience huge traffic.
