Can Old Post Links Be (Possibly Automatically) Moved to The Description?

Not a big issue, but a common scanario is a deal linking to pictures of an ALDI catalogue gets posted before the items are available on the aldi.com.au website. Once the website is updated the deal post link is changed to www.aldi.com.au/en/special-buys/.

This is fine for the week or two that the website has the item details, but ALDI in particular are quite aggressive in removing old deal items from their site. This leads to lots of dead links on deal posts, which makes researching past deals more difficult.

Could we get automatic links added to the deal description with all the old links that a deal had so the info is not lost, or at least a policy of adding old links to the body of a deal?

You can always view the original link in the revisions. For example on this deal you can see here in the revisions the previous url which was posted. Is this what you are referring to?

That's true, I guess I'd just like this to be more prominent on the deal page in the description or something.

Also when you hover your mouse cursor over the deal image, it should show a tooltip with the words "Go to https://..." of the actual link of the deal.

  • Makes sense but doesn't look like it's going to happen so just add the link in the description as well when you post it.
