  • "Solar charding for 1 day, can provide lighting for 3 hours"

Does that mean it will take days to charge completely?

    • Solar charging power is relatively low, the charging time will take longer, so it is only used as an outdoor emergency

    • +3

Recharges itself with 5.0V/2.0A charger is 13 hours
      Solar Power: Polycrystalline 2W

Just going by the above figures found in the description, it takes 13 hours to charge via a 10W source. Since the solar panel is rated at 2W it's going to take 65 hours of sunlight to fully charge this (simple numbers excl. efficiency/losses/etc).

      • Also you have to always pointing it to the sun directly to get the full 2W. I think if simply put it facing up under the sun, it's about totaly 3 hours on 2W charging. Therefore it could take 22 days to get it fully charged if it doesn't burn out under the sun.

Sounds like a winner :) I think I'll invest in a solar charger when tech improves

        • Yes, the solar charging technology is constantly improving. Prolonged exposure to strong sunlight is not the correct way to use it. You cannot expect the solar to full fill the battery. Solar energy is only a supplementary charging method in the wilderness and emergency situations.

    • We provide 4 different charging methods in this product, including standard USB charging, Type-C charging, wireless charging, and solar charging. You can choose the appropriate charging method in different scenarios. Solar charging is just a supplementary charging method under the condition of lack of conventional power supply. It cannot be used as a usual charging method, and it cannot be expected to use solar energy to fully charge the battery.

    Gimmick.
Back in the day, I had a Nokia battery with solar panel on the back. Bigger panel:capacity ratio but still takes forever to get a small charge in emergency.
Leaving a battery in the hot sunlight is bad for it. And eventually you forget to collect it :-)

If you really want a non-useless solar panel, it should be a lot bigger, and charge your existing powerbank(s) over a usb cable, so the battery can be shaded.

    • You are an expert, the power bank is placed under the sun for a long time, high temperature exposure will cause damage to the battery

      • +2

Agreed. Probably better going with the Xiaomi ZMI Aura QB822 20,000mAh Powerbank $59.99 @ Aldi

        • This Xiaomi power bank does not have solar charging, does not support wireless charging, and the battery capacity is relatively low

          • +4

@Johnbo: I thought we just agreed the solar charging was pointless as it will damage the battery. Heat is one of the biggest enemies to a battery. Especially while it's charging, because that causes it to warm up as well.

Also the Xiaomi is $10 cheaper and comes with a 2 year warranty. Aldi are hassle free with any warranty claims.

            How long is your warranty?

            • -4

@Arthur Dunger: OK, Xiaomi power bank is the best, cheap, and the warranty period is very long,
but could you please do not promote your own products in my Deal

              • +2

@Johnbo: I'm not associated with Aldi.

                • -2

@Arthur Dunger: You are lying, you are the author of Xiaomi Deal.
We do n’t want to attack each other in the comment area. The quality of a product is not just what we say, it ’s only after consumers use it.
Whether it is a good deal, consumers can know by comparison, without me saying more.

                  • @Johnbo: I'm not lying. The deal I posted for the Xiaomi power bank is not my own product & I haven't broken any site rules by posting the link here. I don't work for Aldi or Xiaomi and don't get paid in any way for posting that deal.

I haven't attacked you either, but you just called me a liar.

              • +3

@Johnbo: If there is a better deal for a similar product you are definitely going to get comments about it. Ozbargain is not an advertising platform. If your deal isn't the best available and you are worried about people pointing it out then pay to advertise on google ads where people can't comment on it.

                • +1

@Quantumcat: Ozbargainers prefer sellers that do their due diligence and look at the price of all competitor's deals (and share links to them), then offer a lower price. I believe this is partially mentioned in the posting guidelines article.

            • +1

@Arthur Dunger: Along with cold extremes but agree charging and keeping it in the sun would be a killer

              • @DannyBoy: Solar charging only provides users with an additional charging method, especially when you are in the wild and the power supply has been exhausted. When you want to call for help, conventional power banks will be powerless, but solar power banks can come in handy. You can use Solar charging restores the power of your phone. But solar charging is relatively slow, and you cannot expect it to replace conventional USB charging or wireless charging.

  • Is it safe to leave this on my car dash during summer? Will it charge over windshield?

    • -2

It ’s okay to put it on the car dash, it will charge over windshield. However, it is relatively heavy, pay attention to avoid slipping.

    • +3

No, the heat in a car will be even higher than attempting to solar charge it in the wild.

Also you don't want to be hit by a can of soup while driving.

  • I bought this one from eBay. It is really not that good item, solar charging very slow plus mine has its battery expanded (so unsafe to use i guess)

    • We do not sell this product on eBay

      • Well you may not sell it, but it doesnt mean this product is not sold on eBay

        • And it really wasnt any closer to 26800 mAh, it only charged my 3000 mAh phone battery 2.5 times

          • @USER DC: Different products, we do not comment on this

  • I feel like I got the same thing for around 20 on eBay. I know I've got the orange model hanging in the wheelhouse at the moment anyway. Not worth 70.
