New phone advice up to $500 to replace S8

Hi All, would love some advice for a new phone. Current S8 is 3 years old, battery suffering and just smashed the screen. Camera/video is highest priority. Appreciate any advice.

    If camera is highest priority truly then a pixel could pretty easily be found under that price. I've personally had some poor experiences with a pixel and would steer clear, but others would say they love theirs. It takes a mean photo.

    Personally bought a Xiaomi Mi 9 Lite recently which I replaced with a samsung s10 (found it cheap) after I cracked the screen. I regret not getting the xiaomi again.

      I was really enjoying my mi a1 until I cracked the screen. Have you considered repairing it?

        Yeah, sadly the cheapest repair I could find near me was $380, which made buying a fresh phone and selling the broken a more appealing prospect financially

        Super subjective, but the phone felt faster and more fluid in my hands, the screen larger (more to my taste) and I was actually pretty fond of miui despite coming from a samsung beforehand.

        Its the little things like how quickly and reliably the fingerprint/camera sensor works that add to the premium feel for me.

    Get a P30. Wait for a P30 deal via JB, was available for $65 plan for 12 months not long ago.

    Thanks all, I've seen samsung A71 and LG V40 for around $500. might wait for an EOFY sale on one of them or a Xiaomi. Anyone with an LG with comments on camera? seems to have superior audio which is a bonus. cheers!

        Hi @Westham, I'm getting $749 before the $50 discount and looks out of stock. Even the A51 is showing at $599. Was this a special promotion you got?

        How long did delivery take? I am currently employed with a university until 4th June, and am hoping for some fresh stock to become available before I leave, I desperately need a sub $600 phone as I need to hand my Pixel 2 back into the uni when I leave.
