Ouch… a bargain on these would be about $65?

    • +8

nah - These have been my go to shoes for about the last 4 years - have bought about 10 pairs. Have got them sub $100 once. This is a good deal

      • +2

Some still swear by Dunlop KT26.

"my go to shoes for about the last 4 years"
Hasn't shoe tech improved over time.

"- have bought about 10 pairs"
Not sure what you mean here, 48months /10 pairs = 4.8 months average wear?

        • +2

some people like to alternate between different shoes, not necessarily buying one after the other is broken.

Like me, bought 6 pairs of shoes during iso lol

EDIT: okay I see what you mean now after reading the other comment again

I would be swearing as well if I have to run a few km's in KT26.

To answer your queries - GT2000 gets updated every year or so and I've just bought the latest iteration. Also I run 2500Kms a year so go through 4-5 pairs a year alternating with another brand.

          • @fatherjack: Thank you for your experience.
Do these have any pronate correction?
            Wondering what you alternate with.

        • +2

Yes, it's generally accepted in the industry that you should change shoes around every 650km. Some will get far longer, some less.

    • +1

Maybe. But price of the GT2000 8's range from about $150-$200.

  • +2

I owned this when I run on average 40km a week too when i was younger. Good shock absorption and really comfortable. You can easily run a few hundred KMs with it.

  • Code doesnt work on Kayano 25.

Are these for Brooks adrenaline wearers? I find they wear out much quicker but interested in ops opinion.

    • +3

      Sorry can't comment on that.

I was just looking for some runners and tried on, and liked these in Rebel Sport. However they wanted $200, mind you for a different colour but bought these at the cheaper price.

    • +2

Have worn both frequently - brooks adrenalines definitely last longer

Very good mid-range stability runners - they are one level down from the flagship Asics Kayano series. For those looking for an even better bargain - the ASICS stores at the DFO outlets are running out the GT-2000 7 model (last year's model) for only $80… :-)

    • +1

DFO Homebush? 2 weeks ago it was still $110 so I picked up Kayano 25 for $150…
      $80 for GT2000 is definitely a bargain!

      • +1

I bought the Kayanos for that price as well up at DFO Brisbane - great price! Yep, nearly fell over when I saw the GT2000s at that price - but I was already buying 3 pairs of shoes (me, wife & Miss19) so left them on the shelf…

  • +1

Are these put together any better than Kayanos, or are they similar?
I find they fall apart within a couple of months

    • +2

What else do you use your shoes for?
When I use to sell shoes I had a few Kayanos returned and I had to let them know you can't play indoor cricket or netball in Kayanos or they will fall apart quick smart.
Running shoes are for running only. For that they rarely fall apart.

      • +2

        Nothing, just running.
The glue comes apart between the sole and the upper. And the tread wears away. This starts to happen within a few hundred km.
Closer to 5-600km my pinky toe will break through the upper fabric.
I’ve had half a dozen pairs and they all the same fate.

        • +1

Well you have me stumped then.
I used to get 3 months running out of my Kayanos. Then replace them with new Kayanos. The old Kayanos would then be used as casual/work shoes for a further 3 months. And then binned.
They would have a worn sole but topside appear faded only.
Maybe try a trail running shoe like the asics trubuco. They are a bit more durable.
          Good luck.

      • Interesting comment, was not aware running shoes were so specialised, thanks.

I bought some from these guys. Delivered within 2 days. $120. Can't complain.

  • Bought 2. Thanks OP.

  • Good Buy, probably ASICS best running shoe for over-pronators.
Have used this model for over a decade.
Kayano's are great however this 2000 series offers more support and is almost as good for cushioning.
$111 delivered is a good buy for the current version in a popular colour like black.
    Thanks

  • Mine arrived today. Pretty happy with the 2 day delivery for standard shipping.
