silly question, are there certain 5g bands in Oz that you need? Does this phone have them?

    • +8

Not a silly question. Telstra, Optus and Vodafone use the 3500MHz range (n78) which this phone supports, so it should work fine.

    • +3

Also importantly, the Poco has Band 28 for LTE…

    • +4

This link should give you all you need.
      https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/mobile_phone_frequencies

You may also be referring to Band 28 (4G/LTE 700MHz) which gets a lot of attention from Australian buyers. This seller has Band 28 listed under specs.

  • Attractive price.

  • +3

I just wouldn't trust this store.

    • +7

i've bought a phone gimbal from them. The price was attractive. but they sent me another model. a more expensive one. go figure

      • You are so lucky

    • i had two successful order from this store. seems legit.

  • Paid $770 for the cyber grey one week ago. Shipped on 28th, expecting to receive in 2 weeks if I am lucky.

  • +2

    Facepalm

I cbf negging these scammers/liars/useless people anymore.

Id love for them to prove their make believe 'normal price'

    • +1

You've been fighting the good fight, scud 😀.

Thanks for your efforts but it looks like the hive mind is ok with tb even though they have zero customer service and can take weeks to deliver shit… because some of their stuff is cheaper than elsewhere… shrugs

      • +2

I also don't wanna see people lose their items under warranty…

Surely the fake prices, AU name etc etc are enough to put people off….

Plenty of great stores out there to choose from.

Or just read some horror stories…

I really think you are going overboard. I order from TobyDeals knowing exactly what I am going to get. Crappy customer service, unreliable postage and non-existent after sales support, but I will likely get the best price possible for the item I am buying.

You pay for what you get, its up to the buyer to work out the risk versus the reward. I have and will continue to buy from TobyDeals knowing full well I am not going to get the service I'd get if I was paying full price.

          • -3

@Fabio08: OK, so you save a few bucks and one day when you need warranty you lose hundreds.

            Good plan.

How about reward good customer service.

I'm speaking from experience. They kept my S3 Frontier and wanted me to show videos of its faults while in their possession… Tell me what kind of company is that? All after a large expense to send it back too.

            They. Are. Scum.

            • @scuderiarmani: That's your call to make, but I'm sure you happily took the discounted price when it was on offer. Again, you get what you pay for.

              • @Fabio08: Different company name, didn't have the reputation at the time.

                I learnt my lesson.

          • +1

@Fabio08: From the comments, I think TobyDeals does have some inconsistent service. But in my one order with them, it worked out fine. I placed an order last year for my Redmi Note 8T and ordered Dec 21 received Dec 31. Bit weird as it took 8 days to ship and I sent a follow up email asking what was up. But after that they used Toll so it arrived quickly from HK. No complaints, love the phone.

          • +1

@Fabio08: I have claimed for warranty on probably over 50% of the electronics goods that I've bought, even if it's a minor issue, it's still nice to get it fix while under warranty for free

            • +1

@ln28909: Even better when you don't pay $50 to send it back to them and they keep it too.

This site is full of hypocrites. We wanna support local businesses yet willingly support HK websites masquerading as Australian.

        • Fair warning, I've never bought from TobyDeals but I bought from a seller on ebay who loads of my friends had bought from without issue. The battery busted about 8 months in (so still very much under 'warranty'), and as it was an American variant Samsung s8, I couldn't get it repaired at a Samsung location. I tried to contact the seller but they've never responded, and ebay is being literally beyond useless with it.
(Yes I'm half asking for help because it was a great phone but idk what I can do.)
Moral of the story is, while the price may be good, there's a risk involved if something does end up going wrong.

          • @Jec: The only hope is under 6 months if you paid with PayPal….

Anything other than that and all you can go on is their service and good will…..

Ebay only really help for a month.

  • +1

Althought a little salty that the price has dropped I bought it for Tobydeals and got it in about a week 5g works fine althought if you use dual sim you have to turn one off to use 5g

  • Damn, paid $770 with recent deal. Now to deal with Allianz and the Price guarantee cover via credit card

  • +2

I've bagged the living crap out of the Tobydeals after 1st order went smooth 2nd nightmare..

Took a punt on Redmi Note 9 Pro 128gb Green global.

Ordered 28th May delivered today 3rd June $379.

Are they getting better this order was, but who knows in the future.

    • Is their Redmi Note 9 Pro the Indian version? Does it have nfc?

    • Lucky you!
I placed my order on the 20th May but it stayed on 'processing' for over 1.5 weeks and they ignored 5 of my messages when I tried to contact them. I was forced to do a Paypal claim since I had no idea what was happening and didn't want to wait weeks for a reply.
I definitely won't be ordering from them again.

      • All their listing say "In stock" but i guess it depends on color/etc

      • Oh i know where your coming from was hell pissed, 1st phone i ever ordered came relatively fast, 2nd exact same 1 month later zip, nothing no replies to emails had to go through PayPal.

However no stock of the forrest green in Australia n was bit desperate thought bugger it, ill cancel after 10 days if nothing n order if locals have stock.

Bugger me 6 days from time of order too delivery

But its hit and miss you JUST never know with them.

        • Are you happy with the phone? Any screen bleed issue?

  • No NFC?

    • +4

      https://lmgtfy.com/?q=Poco+F2+Pro+nfc

      Literally the first search result.

      • @xyron i have seen specs everywhere else listing it with NFC, however the specs listed on here on TobyDeals does not list NFC anywhere (in product details, specifications or features)… so I just want to confirm that they are not selling a model without NFC… so you are saying that all model will have NFC….?

"Purple is not everyone's cup of tea thou" - I've had my phone for two years now, could not tell you what colour it is.

    • +1

I'm typing this out on my phone and still couldn't tell you.

    • -1

you are right, but still a no for me lol

    • +1

My wife says my phone is purple. I am colour blind so choose not to believe her.

  • +2

To be fair, when you pay 800 in a local retailer approx $80 is tax, that goes back to your community in some form. So saving of circa $35 is ok, but you take risk of warranty. Not a good trade off IMO

    • we pay enough tax already. the $800 you spending out of your pocket is taxed already. this GST is all bs imo.

      • +5

Lol why is GST BS ? Just because you don't like paying tax. UK & Euro have 20% VAT and in India some items are 28% GST.

      • +3

I used to think that, but as I aged and got wealthier I believe we should be taxed more. The rich get so many tax breaks, its ridiculous.

        • +1

aint we on ozbargain, why are people telling us to pay more tax when you dont need to?

you never take advantage of duty free item when you travelling?

          • +1

@SS625: I hardly see anything worth buying in duty free. It's usually the same price or more expensive.

The retailer just marks up the price. I found Dan Murphy's were mostly cheaper than airport alcohol.

          • @SS625: Taxes upon taxes upon taxes.

  • Ordered, nice finding

  • How does this phone compare to the Oppo 5G which was $599 at JB?

    • from my research, it has a faster chipset, camera should be better and with dual sim. but that oppo reno 5g was a good deal.

    • +1

This has mostly better specs, better camera, processor, screen, 5G. Worth a mention is that it has a good chance of getting custom ROMs like old poco.

Oppo, more memory, cheaper, Aus warranty.

      • I am familiar with Xiaomi and I got a Reno 5G recently. I do think the Reno 5G's camera is better.

Also, as overall OPPO's quality is better than Xiaomi, Reno 5G is no exception.

Reno 5G got more RAM and storage, 8+256 GB, compared to this one's 6+128GB.

Snapdragon 855 + X50 should be enough for most people.

The only issue of Reno 5G is that the Australian version of ColorOS SUCKS. The Chinese version of ColorOS has pushed ColorOS 7 for half a year, while the Australian one only has ColorOS 6 with last year Android security patch.

        • My 4g 10x for colors 7.0 a few weeks back. Some minor improvements and what i think are a few small bugs and omissions.

        • single sim vs dual sim….

when you getting mad catch mobile deals for $1.5 a month after shopback. you cant go back to single sim

  • +6

If you use the code CART3 you get an additional ~20 bucks off.

  • +1

    still 60hz unfortunately

  • +2

I remember the original Poco cost half as much.

  • Price updated :(

  • My Poco F1 is still going strong … bought it Nov 2018 … and it only cost $400.
I can wait … never paid over $500 for a phone, and sure as hell not going to start now :)
