    Hardly a bargain.

The Kmart version which is almost identical is the same price.
    https://www.kmart.com.au/product/7-cup-rice-cooker/2523302

It's also 7 cups vs 5 cups for the Big W one.

    • Isn't overly expensive though is it?

      • These ricecookers are always these prices.

        • Yes I know I bought one a couple of weeks ago, but my point is for $13 it isn't particularly expensive for an appliance. Some might even say it's retail is cheap.

Kmart one comes with a steaming tray.

        Which no one ever uses.

        • I always use it… so easy to chuck anything in there to steam while the rice is cooking - eggs, fish, baked beans, reheat leftovers.

Used to own one of this. It can make quite a mess especially with starchy rice.

    It's cheap though.

    • They are quite similar I would imagine.

Did Big W just make a racist rice cooker?

    • +1

I hope not, I drew some eyes on it and it looks vaguely like a cow. Ours is called Condaleeza Rice.

  • Bought this from big W last year for $13. This is not a deal but their normal price.

  • Land fill forever

  • I got one of the $29 kambrooks for $8 after a Good Guys $20 voucher and a 10% discount code. Reviews were average but i haven't had a problem with it. I think it's one of those things where people can get too caught up on boiling rice.

This is the same model than Kmart, and this will not last you more than 3 months. We purchased from Kmart and it stopped working after 2 months.

Then got an exchange, and the 2nd one almost melted. Luckily we were paying attention and stopped it in time, otherwise I can't imagine the catastrophic consequences it could have had.

For your safety, don't purchase this cheap appliance as it seems it has no electrical protection. I can post some pictures if interested

    • Ive had the Big W one for about 9 Months now and it's still working fine. Gets used fairly regularly.
