[VIC] IKEA Solstrale Solar Panels 6.6kW System from $3227* (Melbourne, For Homes Within 100km from IKEA Store)

230

Got a note from IKEA saying they’re installing solar systems within 100km of their stores in partnership with Solargain. The price above includes the VIC rebate.

They also offer a battery option as well.

I have no idea about the quality of materials or Solargain, just sharing out of interest.

  • Solargain did mine, very happy. Though I did choose different panels and invertor :)

    • Ditto.
We also got a (faulty) Tesla battery. They have been very good in preserving with dealing Tesla to get it rectified.

Anyone know about the Growatt inverter? Or how this compares to the Pristine Solar deal earlier in the week?

    • +1

I have Growatt installed and its good..but their app sucks!

    • +1

      This is for South Australia?

      • They can do in VIC

        • +2

Yeah but we don't have the same rebates

          • @jonnoyeo: VIC - "From July 2020 the maximum value of the Solar Homes solar PV battery rebate will be $4,174."

SA - "Subsidies of up to $4,000* are still available under the South Australian Government's Home Battery Rebate Scheme"

            • @Fur Cue: That battery rebate in VIC is only available in certain postcodes.

I wasn't impressed with SolarGain quote process, yes it was cheap but it was the lowest rated panels and invertor I'd researched and it felt very much a sales pitch of how great they are. They came in 20% more expensive than competition on LG/Fronius combination.

  • +1

I got my solar installed, 20x330w jinko half-cut and fronius 5kw, $3700 (after rebate), the company also selling growatt inverter at $2800 (after rebate), I’m in Melbourne.

Agreed, this is not a bargain.

  • Hmm what's the difference between ordering through IKEA or go straight to Solargain directly?

    • +26

      Meatballs

      • +1

I would pull the trigger if it included 10 years of free meatballs as a sweetener.

One will be installed with hex head screws/bolts.

    • Likely just the brand name and thus peace of mind for a premium? If the system breaks or anything, you can go back to IKEA and get money/compensation. Solargain aren't a small company, so I am sure you will get a response and they won't go bust any time soon. However, you'd likely get a quicker response/turnaround since you're an IKEA customer and they wouldn't want to jeopardise that relationship.

I'm considering getting solar for my house. I did some research and it was so confusing.
Anyone know if there's a decent deal for NSW?

  • I wish I could get this in my apartment, have a massive north-west terrace on the top floor and get so much sun but unfortunately can't!

    • If the body corporate is your hurdle, check with your neighbours and your body corporate if they're keen on getting it. You might not get the full benefit but for the body corporate the savings can be quite big (hallway lighting, underground parking, esp.) and those I've spoken to pass on the savings by not raising body corporate rates for a few years because their costs have gone down.

  • I have a quote from Canberra Solargain… anyone else around ACT that wants to get group discount? 6.6kW or bigger system

  • The deal covers Qld and WA too.
Here's the info from their page:
SOLSTRÅLE is currently available in areas within a 100km radius from any IKEA store in WA, QLD, VIC and coming soon to NSW, SA, ACT.

Do I need to assemble it my self?

  • +1

I had a quote from SolarGain last week. $600 more than others for a same system.

  • +1

Do the batteries come with Japanese and Chinese made options? To save even more, can I use 5000 of my spare LADDAs and eneloops instead?
