Anyone used/got reviews for this toothbrush?

    • +3

A Cochrane review from 2005 found counter oscillation electrical toothbrushes to be better than manual toothbrushes at removing plaque and reducing gum disease by up to 17%. The only brand that has counter oscillation is ORAL B because they have patented this technology and is proven to be clinically superior to other types of electrical toothbrushes whether they are back n forth or circular or vibrations.

So all in all, yes - technically one of the best toothbrush + toothbrush head combination. I would recommend any Oral B electric toothbrush for that matter with minimal differences in each one.

Pressure sensors are also good to help with brushing technique which this one does. Otherwise if you're not an aggressive brusher, they're cheaper range will do.

        Because we care

      • This one does not not have a pressure sensor. Or does it? I've got one and I've never seen it light up. Maybe I'm not an aggressive brusher. 🤔

I have both, I think phillip sonicare are much better, they feel so much gentler on your teeth.

        More expensive though

If you don't have an electric toothbrush, then I highly recommend you get this. We made the switch last year and you notice the difference.

It has an inbuilt timer that goes off every 30 seconds so it ensures you are brushing each quadrant of your teeth evenly and for long enough.

The oscillating bit feels like it is cleaning a lot better. It is definitely easier than trying to make little circles with your toothbrush.

I would describe this as the lazy but very effective method to clean your teeth.

I don't trust Oral-B electric toothbrushes anymore. They are super loud and after a few uses you can see more of your teeth than you should! like it makes your gums recede :(

      • I agreed; baby brush is good and gum massage is must to keep blood flowing well for healthy gums.

      • I always thought these electric brushes were way to abrasive. Akin to polishing headlights.

Get one with a pressure sensor, your dentist should be tracking receding gums.

      • +1

You’re pressing too hard. Imagine you’re brushing a tomato, you just glide over the teeth

        You are pushing to hard.

Let the tooth brush sit on your teeth and move it across them.

All you need to do is move it, it does the work for you. Don't press it into your teeth.

    $50 is the price

    • Thank you. Posting the specs and not the price is a weird move

  • How do these compare to the Soocas toothbrushes that often come up here?

    • +2

      Here's my take on it.
I used 2x Oral-B toothbrushes for around 10 years with no issues. Last year decided to try the soocas, Xiaomi, Sonicare knockoff a go. I'm now back on the market looking for another Oral-B. They just don't clean as well for me, YMMV.

      • Odd, i have to disagree. I bought a soocas and ended up needing a new head but left it too late and had to order one overseas. Bought an oral b thing like this in the interim and boy i was eager to get back to my soocas. Guess its all personal preference

      • Have you tried a real Sonicare?

I have both oral-b and sonicare and the sonicare just feels so much better - same cleaning but just so less harsh on your teeth

        • No I haven't, but I find the vibrations do nothing and I still need to scrub, which can be difficult to do for the back teeth. I'm using my old Oral-B now and it's much better for that issue.
Also a side note, while using the Oral-B, I hadn't gone to the dentist in over 8 years. When I finally went they saw no issues

I used one for a year and they are pretty much like the $25 dollar one, exept when u press too hard (brush hard), it lightens up. It also comes with a travel case, but thats pretty much it. I would honestly but the other alternative and save $25.

    Oral-B PRO 700 $48 Delivered @ Amazon AU
Same price @ Shavershop, $38 for new users.

    • Always difficult to differentiate between models. We’re probably due for an upgrade but unsure whether the Pro 700 looses anything important compared with the 4000 (I won’t use the Bluetooth connected app in the 4000).

    • Interested to know the feature difference between the 700 and 800.

      • Minimal. Pro 700 is up to 7600 rpm while 800 is up to 8800 rpm.

    • +2

Thanks just bought this from Amazon.

Edit: Cancelled my order and purchased from Shaver Shop for $38!

Bought the pro-2000 from shaver shop, shopback tracked with $10 off for signing up.
      Thanks jim518

      • I can't see an additional $10 off offer, do you just have to register an account and you get a voucher or something?

        • +5

try opening it in incognito and a pop up appears saying 'sign up for $10 off' you can put a fake email and still get a code and buy as a guest

          • @Kah: Awesome that worked perfectly. Thanks for the quick reply.

Sweet! Thanks for the Shavershop tip. Ordered.

    • +2

As quite often the real deal is in the comments. Cheers.

    • Thanks for the heads up! Just ordered from shaver shop

  • OP, there are actually 2 brush heads included according to the product page picture, not one as per your description.

i would pay extra to get the Oral-B PRO 2000 $79

    lithium-ion battery
    Oscillations/min: Up to 40,000
    pressure sensor LED

    • I got one from Shaver Shop today for $79

    • Thanks for this info. Bought two and returned the two from this deal back to Woolies :)

    • Would you pay another $20 for the $99 Smart 4000?

  • Still have the 3000 pro that was $49 two years ago…. much better than the basic $25 one

    • wow bargain!

  • +4

I just wish they make these electric toothbrushes battery replaceable. Instead of buying a new one every couple of years. The batteries obviously will not last that long.

    • I’m here because of the battery…

  • Yeah you want the Oral-B models that oscillate up to 40,000/min. I've been using the Smart 4 4000 for 1.5 years now and it's much better than the Oral-B Pro model I had previously which has lower oscillations. The Bluetooth app is a gimmick though :)

  • +1

I got one that has 'pulsations' as well as oscillate, what's all the diff?
I want one with pressure light for the kids, what's the simplest one with the feature?
Why are there every model from 100 to 5000!!??

  • Any idea what battery type this is? From my experience, the lithiums last really well but we only got about 2 years out of the NiCad ones (wife and I were sharing the handle but had our own heads).

As someone says above, pity you can't repalce the batteries. You could on the old models, but now they glue them so you destroy them to get them open. Built in obscelesence - hate it - rest of briush is fine, just need new battery but have to buy whole new brush.

    • Dont your toothbrush grow some back mold stuffs after a year or two? I tried soaking in vinegar solution as well as alcohol solution to kill or remove it and scrubing but cant get the black stuffs out from the rubber handle area. Once battery died, time to chuck it out else have to keep using it.

Deciding should I get the Pro 700 or the more expensive one.

      • Our old one did that and agree it needs to be turfed when it starts fighting back if you go to use it.

I now make sure i wash it/wipe it dry after each use and the current one hasn't done the same. From memroy it is also more hard plastic/less rubber grip than the old one.
