  • Delivery seems cheaper than the others too. $10 to regional NSW.

  • Damn it I pulled the trigger on Centrecom this week at $206.

  • Would it be cheaper to wait 15th for eBay's discount?

Let me just check my crystal ball

I wouldnt hold your breath. A bunch of Futu stuff on my watch list got jacked 15% today.

    • +2

Shopping Express usually joins in with price jacking like every other store for eBay 'sales'. In my experience the 15% or 20% off ebay sales are usually marginally cheaper by a few dollars, but not by much.

      • +3

For me, the only good thing about eBay sales is that you usually get an invoice for the original price - i.e. a $200 item that you purchase for $160 with a 20% off code comes with an invoice for $200. This means that I can claim the full amount as a tax write-off (assuming it's for business use) which in turn means even more savings (using the example above, I would be able to claim an extra $40 off my taxable income).

        • Sounds good when everyone's working from home :)

        • Absolutely need that 2080ti for work. :D

  • Is this really worth the $31 more than the QVO for a regular gamer/MS Office/net surfing user?

    • +6

As boot drive, sure, but you don't need 1tb to do that.

      • Thanks for the comment. I'll hold out for a 500gb WD SN550 for boot and just go with the QVO for storage

    • +4

I think it's worth it to have a 1TB boot drive so you can store games that you frequently play, unless you have another drive just as fast for general storage and game library. I had a 500GB 960 Evo for boot drive, it can only store 1 or 2 games at most (damn those 150GB AAA games) which is quite annoying in the long run.

  • tempting

  • hmm no killer Evo970 or 970pro delas ?

    • There were deals on WD SN750 or Adata SX8200 Pro ~$210 for 1TB which perform on par with 970 EVO. They are usually on sales more frequently.

Samsung has brought back cashback on SSD's again :)

  • Redemption is not working.

    • Same here. Just purchased then too.
I'll give it abit to see if it goes through

You get the invoice and submit it to Samsung. It takes a few weeks for it come through

      • Ahhh thought it was through Cashrewards. My bad.

  • Great price!

  • Sorry for being a tech newbie with this comment but… I've seen another deal at Centrecom for the 1TB 860 QVO (unlike this one, which is EVO) for 155 (139 after cash back). What would the difference be performance-wise? Thanks in advance.

Here for a well researched answer
Summary: A bit slower, shorter warranty, less durable and has an SLC cache which when exhausted results in very slow transfer (happens when transferring large amounts of data)
I recommend the EVO if you’re using it as the primary boot drive and QVO if you’re after a secondary storage drive.

      • Hey, thanks so much for the reply. I'm currently using a 500GB NVMe as my boot drive but the laptop I am using came with an empty 2.5" bay (thanks Lenovo). I am planning to use it mainly for moving my installed games from the NVMe drive to the SSD, as well as a ton of movies and other videos that I have stored on external hard drives (which are really slow). So in short, for gaming, media and office use, would it be better to save a few bucks and get the slower QVO drive? Thanks.

        • +1

QVO will be fine, I used a 2TB QVO as a secondary drive for a while and the jump from the HDD was definitely noticeable. If you want more durability and warranty it might be worth considering the EVO. In the 2TB case the price difference between QVO and EVO was far greater so QVO was a no brainer.

      • if im using it for my ps4, 860 EVO will be better than QVO, right?

        • Yeah, it's better though I don't know how much better and if it's worth paying the extra.
Also are you putting it into a PS4 original, slim or pro? It's only really worth replacing the internal drive it's a Pro since the original/slim can't make good use of the SSD due to old sata II interface (whereas the Pro has Sata III)

  • Thanks ordered, cheaper than from supplier and with cash back.

  • If only the 2TB was a sensible price.

  • I remember when these were on a trajectory to be around $100. cries in covid-19

  • Can I buy 2 in one invoice and claim for both?

  • Anybody got it shipped yet?

    • nope

      • Received Auspost shipped notification.

        • Yep mine has shipped now too

  • +1

Just try to submit a claim with an existing Samsung account.

It kept saying invalid serial IMEI number.

    • Did you check the serial on the actual drive itself.

I noticed the one on the box was a letter short. But on the drive there was another letter at the end

      • Yes from the drive, I took a photo from the drive because I have to submit the photo anyway.

I did claim a few times before this the first time I have this problem.

    • I'm having the same issue. Contacted Samsung but haven't heard back.

      • Any luck with this? Mine is saying invalid too.
