Am I Legally Allow to Drive on The Day of My Licence Expiry Date?

Hi OzBargainers!

A bit in a situation but, am I legally allow to drive on the day of my licence expiry date.

Example: Licence states expiry date is Sunday 14/06. Can I still drive up till 11:59PM of 14/06 ?

Based in QLD, Brisbane CBD.

Also has anyone tried renewing in any Auspost outlet?

P.S: Failed to renew online due to too many failed attempts in trying to login and was requested to contact TMR :(

Hopefully anyone has some advice on this.

Cheers!

You can drive on the day it expires, up until midnight… trying to find the thread that have asked this already…

  • I was ready to give you grief until it said the online system failed.

Not a government website but it says you can drive until 11.59pm

If you are worried get a lift or public transport.

    Edit: oh wait, that's rego

Dot gov dot au would indicate it IS a government website.

  • Why not just make a bpay payment?

    • Bpay payment ? I didnt receive an invoice or some sort with a biller code or so tho.

  • Just call them first thing monday for the online code for TMR.

Did that last week, took about 2 minutes and the code came while they were on the phone. Another 5 minutes to complete the process online, and you get an authorisation to print out that lets you use the old licence until the new one arrives.

    • Cheers thanks for that :)

An expiration date is the LAST date that a particular entity is valid, it does not signify the date after.

    • That may be, but it is counter-intuitive to me.

If something is expired it cannot be presented. If it expires on ddmmyy then surely it should not be able to be presented on ddmmyy.

  • Thanks everyone who commented.

Lesson learn never to leave it to the very last minute :(

Will try and call TMR on monday and walk in to renew as well.

    Cheers
