Yeah i know what it does… but spend a few dollars more and get something that's much better http://www.i-tech.com.au/products/101543_Astone_Media_Gear_M…

    • I've heard of WDTV Live before - how is your one better?

      • +12

        astone has a blue light

      • Specifications seem to suggest the Astone has USB 3.0 also records live TV. On paper, it looks pretty good. I'd research though before dropping any money on it… We know the WDTV Live works pretty well.

    • Hi Figarow

Do you have one of these? Can it do wireless - ie the Astone unit connects to the TV and draws content from a PC located in another room via a wireless connection.

I wouldn't say cheaper. the first on shopbot is not 94 but 97, and 23 bucks to ship it. the second is 5 cents less than this price, but you need to pay 10 bucks minimum shipping.

Not really a bargain. Usual price is $99.
But I did see it for $95 in-store today at JB.

  • +2

It's always $95 at JB Hi-Fi, I've bought a couple of the course of 12 months (as gifts), and half the time it was priced at $108? Other times $95, but I've always paid $95, just bargain the guy!

  • +1

yeh it was a usual price ($99)in OW too. unless we get it for 50$ like in this post

  • I just saw the new WDTV. Didn't look too closely at all the specs but it's now got built-in wifi. RRP is USD99, it'll be interesting to see what price it gets here

  • +1

It's the same price in JB-Hifi as per current posting: http://www.jbhifionline.com.au/computers-laptops/computer-ac…

What I know apparently WD has launched another WDTV Live with built-in Wifi. I know it when I scan JB Hi-fi catalogue yesterday and I think it is sold for $145. Not sure if this product will replace the existing WDTV Live or causing a lot of major retailers drop the price and clear the stock (from around $108 to $99)

Hopefully there will be another post for WDTV Live with built-in Wifi

Note: Here is the write-up on the new WDTV live. Seems to major on the streaming of web stuff (eg Spotify, YouTube, etc.) Has 802.11n wifi only, with a gigabit physical port.

Maybe the existing WDTV Live units will get flogged off cheap in the coming months? $99 has been fairly vanilla pricing for this.
