Unfortunate Spacemen is a multiplayer game about space-based murder in space! Spacemen work diligently to be rescued from their failing outpost, but not everyone is who they claim to be… Death is part of life in space, and you're no exception to the rule. Paranoia runs rampant.

Current Features:

  • Shapeshifter Mode: Survive, hunt, or complete randomized objectives to escape, in desolate settlements, arctic outposts, derelict space stations, warp-speed hypertrains, or ancient digsites across 12 distinct alien locales, and up to 16 players per match!
  • As a Spaceman, complete objectives to call for rescue, or go hunt the Monster in packs!
  • Mimic and devour the Spacemen as the Monster from the blackest reaches of the galaxy! Lay traps, disguise as other players, or take them head-on in your devestating Monster Form!
  • Solo / Co-op Story Mode: Fight against the Crumerian insect swarm as you battle with up to 5 friends through the bonus story mode!
  • Solo / Co-op Survival Mode: Survive with up to 9 other friends for as long as you can against progressively more difficult waves of enemies!
  • Proximity Chat: All in-game communication fades with distance from the speaker, so you can roam, sneak, hide, and eavesdrop as you hunt or run from other players!
  • Security Guards (Bots) roam the facility. Use them to help learn the ropes and practice, or just add them for more chaos to a multiplayer game!
  • Rank up through The Company to unlock new customization and perks to customize your look and your playstyle!

      It says free to play but also some sort of a promotion which adds the game to your account.
      Maybe bonus in game content?

      My understanding is that it is free to keep if you redeem prior to 20 June.

        I think this one is just free to play like Fortnite etc.

          I guess the special promotion might be just having it added to tour account which lets you get the trading cards

            @FireRunner: Always free games are also added to your account I believe but are only visible in the launcher, not in the browser.
            Always free games are also not counted in your game number on your profile in the browser.

              @Lysander: I think that’s the promo for this game. Normally free to play games don’t allow you to get trading cards and don’t count towards your game count. Clicking “install game” instead of “free to play | play now” will add it to the library with the benefits

          Ah ok, this one just says "SPECIAL PROMOTION! Offer ends 20 June". Unclear what the special promotion is.

          confirming, this is Free to Play.

          Even you choose Play Game and it says game added to your account, it won't increase your no. of owned games. You can still find it in your library though

      The Wayback Machine suggests it used to cost $14.99, so I'm guessing it's free to keep as a promo??? No idea for sure though.

          Hahaha hey I guess it is better than joining a gaming discord based around other regions or god forbid it under aged teens or ultra boomers or a debating team… (yeah I get around thanks to my crippling loneliness always trying to find the unfindabled discord group that does not make me want to stab myself in the eye).

          But yeah my guess is a lot of people would just play whatever is free weekend at the moment which is understandable for a discord gaming group based around bargains and deals and at a stretch frugality.

    The second video which is eight minutes of monster gameplay with the players commentary and voice chat is great.

    I think I found a new way to pass the time.

        I mean I know I won't play it much or for long but it is a funny game definitely to watch and maybe mess around in once a year.
