I've never understood RGB headsets. I mean… you can't see it. lol

EDIT: Not a bad deal too btw. :)

      • or Hear it.
      • Ahaha I'm not trying to be a smart arse I genuinely don't get it. Good for photo ops only I guess.

Just an excuse to add something else to icue :)

    Best looking headset. No plastic

    • The downside - it is heavy.

      • There is a plastic version which may be better for comparison to the others and probably priced more competitively. From our experience with a Razor in the end it just fell apart.

Pretty terrible headset. Bought one and had to return it. There is minimal padding on the ears which you can feel the drivers against your ears. Couldn't even wear it for 10 minutes until I felt pain in my ears.

    • Do you wear glaases?

    • Everyones heads are shaped differently i guess. While these are in no way as comfortable as my ATH-AD700 i wouldnt say theyre bad. Even wearing glasses i find these comfortable to wear for hours. The sound quality left me a little disappointed tho, but the bar is set quite high, as I have some far (FAR) more expensive headphones other than these to compare to.. In the end though, I wanted a decent pair of wireless headphones that look good with a premium feel, and these well and truly did the trick. Just dont expect them to sound as good as a $300 wired pair of sennheisers/audio technica/oppo and you will be fine.

      • Agree you can't compare them to a wired set.

Yeah unfortunately the only thing that is interesting about this headset is the looks, and the mic. If you're at all interested in comfort & audio quality and are seeking wireless at good price points, look at the HyperX Cloud Flight, Steelseries Arctis 7 and Corsair HS70 (not the HS70 SE). The latter has poor battery life and a poor mic, but good tuning, while the other two are good all-rounders: the Flight needs a pad change to get the most out of it, while the Arctis 7 needs an EQ.

But for the real bargain hunters, we should start to see more and more headphones that support LC3/LC3Plus codecs via Bluetooth 5.2, which means a lot more bluetooth headphones that offer low-latency modes which at their peak, exceed the best we've seen in wireless audio so far.

Has good reviews. There is no ultimate wireless headset yet. Sound and comfort can depend on the user. At least Amazon have a good return policy.

      • Show me a good technical review. Show me any review that puts this in the same category as other headsets in the $250-$400 bracket. Hell, show me a review that puts this ahead of headsets in the $100-$200 bracket.

It's wildly overpriced for what it is, and is awful compared to the Astro A50 and the Arctis Pro Wireless in its price range.

Pretty much every review claims these are great, every headset has their faults .
Google corsair virtuoso review… The first 4 reviews are 4.5 stars.

Maybe as Ozbs we should be looking at the Logitechs.

Anyway we have the CVSEs. No complaints. Each to their own.

Read the sound and design sections. RTings isn't the be all and end all (they don't examine the attack and decay of headphone drivers), but it definitely helps sort out the wheat from the chaff.

The fit of the Corsair is uncomfortable, varies heavily, and the tuning of the mid range (where most of the speech/music is) is awful. It gets beaten by headphones that cost half as much.

In audio, more money does not inherently equal more quality, because psychoacoustics are tricky, and sound preferences are also tricky, but crappy v-shaped tunings generally don't go down well.

@jasswolf: To me it just highlights that in fact the CVs are as good compared to the others. There is also the preset and custom icue settings to adjust the eq sound.

We aren't all audiophile as gamers.

            • +1

              @jasswolf:

The fit of the Corsair is uncomfortable

Isn't that always dependent on the user? Surely if you've got a big head all the smaller headsets are going to score bad, and vice versa?

              • @aragornelessar: The same arguement for fit has been going for ages with the comfort of the Sony WH100Xm2/3 to the Bose QC35. Subjective. The CVs are heavy headphones as cups and frame metal.

              • @aragornelessar: There comes a point where having a high clamping force and thin pads makes things uncomfortable for everyone. That it comes stacked with a design that isn't really ergonomically minded for a human head seals the deal.

This whole product is the ultimate test in YouTube/Twitch/testimonial marketing, and it's working.

                • @jasswolf: Yes it is all about marketing. I'm sure SteelSeries give out alot of free one's to influencer's who they also sponser. By tbe way we also have a pair of the cheap plastic Steelseries wireless headphones that are way overpriced for the build.

                  • @Melb69: I wrote 'the ultimate test', not 'the only test'… it's great that you want to justify your purchasing decision to me with weak subjective experience and anecdotes, honestly, but why not just head over here and have more fun?

                    Cheers

                    • -1

@jasswolf: At the end of the day you can put out as much so called tests results as you like, and as I originally said there were good reviews and both the brands and headphones we have we are happy with.

                      Maybe a visit to
                      https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/7gscdn/audiophi…
                      For you.
                      Cheers.

                      • @Melb69: Why in the world did you link me that…

I mean you do realise that headphones are manufactured, tuned and measured, yes? That audio engineering is an applied science… yes? Subjectivity drives objectivity, and objectivity explains subjectivity. The FR curve you're seeing on the Corsair? Most people hate it, let alone in cheap headphones.

There are good v-shaped headphones, but this ain't it, Chief. Please move on with your life.

            • +2

@jasswolf: I'll take flat with boosted but tight bass. I use cans for now, ready for a set of wireless cans with low latency, not really fussed on a mic.

Hoping Steelseries Arctis Pro Wireless goes on sale soon…

  • I had this headset for 1.5 months and had to return it.
The main reason - buggy software.
Took me a while to figure it out that if I shutdown Corsair software it will work better. No additional feature but stable without glitches and connection loss.
The second reason to return - it was heavy and not as comfortable as expected.

I replaced them with Arctis Pro Wireless which feels more plastish but lighter, more comfortable and works as expected.
