Am I Being Reasonable? Faulty Goods

Hello all

I bought an electronic product last week

Turns out the product is faulty and after troubleshooting with the manufacturer they have advised its faulty

I have approached the company that I bought it from and they advised they need to log an RMA and I have to wait for a replacement. NO eta on a replacement yet

The item is not cheap and I spent $1800 on it. It does not work as intended and it is only 7 days old. I have used it 5 times and 3 of those times troubleshooting with the manufacturer

Am I well within my rights to ask for a straight swap for a brand new one?

What are my rights here? I really can't wait around days and days for a replacement.

  • I’ve never read the comments section from top to bottom before this one.

  • If it's not working and the retailer can't show you how to work it correctly then it is faulty. You don't need to wait while they send it off to the manufacturer to confirm that, this is their problem to work out in their own time.

You have the right to choose between a replacement or refund. If a replacement is going to take months then obviously you choose refund.

If they refuse the refund then you can do a charge back via your credit card.

If you didn't pay with credit card for a $1800 item then that was not very smart.

    • Yes cause putting yourself into debt with a credit card is smart

I already explained why it was paid with cash

  • Given the attitude of the ozbargain forum I have decided not to reveal the company. You can thank the community for this

It seems this is a joke to the whole forum

Regardless of the item being a tv, drone, microwave etc I was seeking advice on the right direction

This company posts deals here on the regular. Wait till this happens to one of you who gave ridiculous advice. Its bound to happen.

I will request a mod now close this thread given the amount of trolls
