Pretty disappointed with this ssd to be quite honest. Write speeds are horrid. However the Samsung T5/T7 are on another level

    • The Samsungs are on a different pricing level, too. Not everyone needs to write their gigabytes in a few seconds.

That is ok, but this model is slower than an external HDD or flash drive

          • @dm01: Your above comment is irrelevant when you can buy a 2TB or bigger portable HDD for the same cost and (potentially, based on Csonty's comment) faster than the SSD in this post. Why would anyone go out of their way to buy a slower drive? Especially this drive, which has horrid write speeds from the reviews I've read.

See my above comments about speed not always being a critical factor.

              • @dm01: I'm guessing you have no issues with using floppy disks too then?

@chihaeru: It is a small mind that can't see beyond the speed of an SSD as the only reason to purchase.

      • It is Price Discrimination.
SSD manufacturers seem jointly dominate the market and offer inferior products with original standard prices, while raise standard product prices (EVO 860, MX500, etc.) by another 20%-30%.
Another example is Intel CPU. The manufacturing cost isn't that much different between Celeron/i3 and i5/i7, but the performance of the former seems intentionally restricted.

Don't like the look of that inbuilt cable.

    • It's only a very short inbult cable too i think about 10cm. I know because i own both the Cobalt and Amber versions of the 500GB SSD. It's only ok if you're using it on a laptop computer otherwise you need say a 50cm USB 3 extension cable.
