Looks good except for the CPU

Agreed, we had The same laptop but with the Ryzen 7 previously for similar price

It also had 120hz IPS display

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/524619

It's currently available for $1180 (Wireless1) as price has steadily increased as stock decreased

        • FYI just to clarify the Ryzen 7 model you linked (FX505DT-AL043T) is unavailable, Wireless 1 is out of stock as are any other stores when you search staticice. I can also confirm that currently all ASUS distributors are also out of stock.

          • @JEmms at TechSwich: eBay also take the hit the for coupon codes. Thanks for the deal.

            • @Clear: No worries. I did check eBay before hand but didn't realise I they had 20% sale for eBay plus members lol. eBay do subsidise the larger sales like that so the $990 one for eBay plus members someone mentioned elsewhere is well below my cost.

Also I want to let you know that throughout the last few months I haven't increased my margins I'm earning at all on any parts/laptops etc. Any pricing increases since Feb/March has purely been the supply chain has been increasing prices so it's costing me more. A few people mentioned the Ryzen 7 version was almost this price a few months ago), this would be why unfortunately. Hopefully things go back to normal soon, this covid situation has certainly had an impact on the whole supply chain and there's been crazy demand for laptops recently.

    • What's wrong about the processor?

      • It's probably good enough for laptop gaming. What's wrong is that it's about the same performance as an Intel i3.
The Ryzen 3000 mobile cpus are pretty lame, unlike the 4000 series.

Could be similar to the one at Ebay? $991.20 at ebay with coupon PMON20.

Though yours is 2666Mhz while the one at eBay is 2400Mhz, the rest of the specs seem the same.

It's the same model, same MPN: FX505DT-BQ191T
Would be just a listing error I imagine

  • Reviews I have read are positive, although no USB-C is a negative, as well as having all ports on the left edge.

Not good enough of a deal to be posted on Ozb, every other retailer is doing them for $1099 + delivery see here

Currently on eBay for $991.20 from Smarthomestoreau or $980.80 from Futu both with free delivery

And yes this is only available for eBay Plus member, however, it is still cheaper even if you pay the $49 p.a. and you also get access to many other deals

  • Is this a good deal considering the ryzen 4000 laptops are starting to roll out?

Also like the other commenters, I'm quite sure the 120hz + better CPU models have been at a very similar price (just a tinsy bit more) in the past

Ya, people are trying to push these out the door while they can.

The upper tier model is the better buy, i dont believe the next gen model will be significantly better for gaming as it will still be the same gen gpu.

      • Much improved IPC of the 4000 series should make a difference at 1080p.

    • This is a good buy bar the lack of 120hz screen. I have the DU model and the 3750H can't push the 1660ti … so the 3550H with 1650 is a better match hardware wise.

  • I have this laptop and it serves me well. It can pump out great framerates but the cooling fans are LOUD.
