    $198 @JB Hi-fi

    • Seems like these have been under $200 at most places since April 1. So no need to rush if on the fence.

  • I got mine during the TGG cashrewards 10% cashback. It's so good for this price!

    and I want this because?

I got one from officeworks for $199 a couple weeks ago. Thought it sounded great so ended up getting another one and pairing them up in stereo. Wow they sound great set up like that. A must buy at this price. Even just for the one.

I put one in my office…pretty sure the floors above and below me can hear/feel the music

i have the echo show 10 in my room, living room, and kitchen.
i have the echo show 8 in all the kids rooms.
i have the echo show 5 in the bathrooms.
should i get this or just stick with Alexa?

    • stick with Alexa.

I have both, I find Alexa better.

      • better how?

        • Understands me way better.

Ok Google is a hit and miss, by a big margin. I also have to speak louder to hear me.

Google opens up the speakers to hear anyone in the house at random words. After that you have to stop talking otherwise it will pick up something from the conversation and play or whatever.

I have 4 Google devices and 2 Alexas. I use Alexa most of the time these days.

@[Deactivated]: I find "Hey google" better than "OK Google".
            Have you tried adjusting sensitivity?

              @fredblogs: Thank you @fredblogs

I tried a lot of things but I always find myself frustrated with Google.

For example, if I have the phone anywhere near me, the phone will pick that up instead of the speakers.

I'm not sure what happened, however, I observed that Google's listening/understanding quality dropped significantly. This experience was outlined by few others on the OZB forums.

I hate that Alexa doesn't play YT music, that's the only thing I miss about it.

A bonus with Alexa is if I whisper a command, Alexa whispers back.

P.S. I have linked both Alexa and Google with smart speaker, TV, garage and backyard door sensors, lamps, ambient light, home theatre, smart power plugs. They work the same.

          • @[Deactivated]: fantastic. i invested a lot into the alexa line, i was hopping i don't have to replace them already. thanks everyone, i will stick with alexa. i have no experience with google, but i do love alexa and wanted to see if there was anything i was missing. it looks like there isn't so i will stick with alexa.

    • Was thinking the same but I’m not sure. I wanna get the this google home max speaker but I don’t think it’ll work with the eco-system I’m in. Echo Dot 3rd Gen, Echo dot 1st gen and echo plus. Wish there was maybe a service which could link them together or something.

      • Just an Aux cable will do the trick.
Connect the cable from Alexa and use the max as the speaker.
        Best of both worlds.

  • This, HomePod or echo studio?

    • Nothing better for this price.

Depends whether you are a Google addict, Apple fanboy or Alexa aficionado….

      • Okay so let me explain my requirements briefly.
I basically need a speaker for my android tv in a small bedroom and occasionally play music from my iPhone (I use apple music)

I don’t think HomePod can link to android so that’s out of equation

I’m thinking to have two echo 3rd generation plugged in with an echo sub

Or I can use google home max

Or I can use echo studio

Or I can even look at Sonos one.

Can someone please help me choosing a better alternative. Much appreciated! Thanks!

        • I think u don't need any of these.

You should get a Yamaha soundbar like YAS-108. Plug it into the TV via HDMI and use the Bluetooth to play songs from phone or echo.

          • @Bippz01: I’m also looking for an assistant feature in the speakers and I’d prefer something that I can just plug out and carry it somewhere else if I want to

        • If space isn't an issue, you might be better off with a soundbar (and a subwoofer if you desire some doof-doof). The Google Home Max has a smaller footprint, has Bluetooth and works excellently with Android for casting music. It also has an aux port.

While trying to work out which is right for you, remember the Max is cheaper than the Sonos and a decent soundbar + subwoofer.

          Hope this helps.

          • @albert0pia: Do you know if home max connects with android tv via Bluetooth? Or Aux is the only option. I read some reviews and didn’t get that clarity

            • @StealSeeker: I haven't yet tested my Android TV with it but I have indeed paired the speaker with my phone via Bluetooth.

          • @albert0pia: It's cheaper but audio quality is lower. all reviews that compare the 2 say the same thing. It's to do with 'loose low end bass, and sonos having better low end bass extension'. GH is much more economical but not equal audio quality

So if you simply want best audio quality without consideration for price, you still buy the sonos

I got this for $188 from JB last month to use it as my PC speaker and they sound amazing. There's a few problem though.
    1. If connect via Bluetooth to use as Bluetooth speaker, they work flawlessly but after awhile (at least once a day), there's some audio lag about 1 second. I would need to disconnect it and then reconnect to the PC and that would fix the audio lag. When listening to music it's fine but gaming or video, it's annoying af
    2. If I connect via AUX there's never audio lag that I noticed, yet if I don't use it for a few hours, when I start using the PC again, there's no sound. I have remove and reconnect the AUX and that will fix it.
They can be great but depending on how you use it, sometimes these issues can be annoying

    • That is good to know. I had only heard about the dual setup google max having the lag and not useful as sound bar for computer/tv. People generally say single speaker is fine and no lag. Anyone else experience lag or no problem with regular use as soundbar for tv/computer?

  • Does anyone know how is it compared to Bose soundlink revolve plus in sound quality ..?
