Ecovacs DEEBOT OZMO 950 Robotic Vacuum $799 (Save $200) @ JB HI-FI

140

One of the best robot vacuum you can buy in Australia right now at any price point.

This is normally $999 and currently at $799.

Yeah I know robots with LIDAR + VSLAM are coming, but they're still not available in Australia yet.

Just purchased this from Amazon AU for the same price with bonus brush or mop accessories.

The only thing missing from the Ecovacs app is the ability to remote control the robot vac, which is available on the Xiaomi/Robovac units.

  • I still can't get the android app connected to the robot. Apps on both iPhone and ipad work fine. Weird.

I think they made a great hardware (robot), but really shitty software.

After so many tries and all failed, I gave up on Android app.

P.S. also got it at jb hifi for $799 a while ago. They dropped $200 off every now and then.

    • Hi Mate. My first try was using my home wifi and didn't work. I had success the 2nd time. Using the app, I had to use the method where you connect to the robot via the QR code scan and connecting to the deebot wifi.

      Hope this helps.

Just a reminder for people who can't afford $800 on a top-of-the-line robovac/mop, the not-quite-as-good-but-still-bloody-impressive Ecovacs Deebot 930 is available for $399 (using Make An Offer) here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/545218

  • Also Deebot 920 brand new one for $599 on Amazon. It seems like does pretty much all the stuff that 950 is capable of.

950 has better battery so much longer runtime, and more suction then the 920. If you have a moderate to large house the 950 comes in handy because you can clean in one go rather having the vac stop and charge for 4 hours before going back out to clean the rest.

But they are both awesome vacuum cleaners.

    • Just launched dodgy store

      • would Amazon protect if it dodgy?

  • The best money can buy? May not be so, according to here

Thanks for pointing this out. Vacuum Wars says that the Ozmo has higher airflow than the Roborock S6. But the specs say the Ozmo 950 has 1500pa suction vs the Roborock S6 2000pa. The specs align with the battery life test given by Vacuum Wars. Unless the design of the robot can account for the difference, I'd tend to believe the pocket-lint review.

Dunno. I'd always believe functional real-world cfm testing (using consistent methods between devices) vs a spec sheet. The vacuum wars gap test vs the S6 MaxV definitely showed it picking up more debris, and every one of the other channels I watched showed similar real-world results. The Deebot simply sucks more. ;)
Personally, yesterday my hallway floor was covered in plasterboard dust after small reno job. Ran the Deebot over it twice, every last bit was gone. Naturally that's not an objective test as I didn't do the same with a Roborock, but I was suitably impressed.

Also noting the pocket-lint criticism of no push-notifications when it's stuck is no longer true. You just have to turn them on.

However I do agree that the app is not as strong as the Xiaomi, perfectly fine imho, but not as polished. I also don't like that I can't manually control the vac if it gets stuck.
Honestly I think they're all excellent options (the MaxV/950/920), and we're finally at the point where a robovac can mostly replace a manual vacuum except for specific use cases.

        • Yeh, totally agree that they're all excellent options. The only thing I'd improve on the roborock would be to have even greater suction. That's why the Ozmo review caught my attention.

    • Yes, one of the best.

Have a read on more than one review, it'll give you a better feel, but each to their own.

  • How does the Deebot N79T shape up compared to this?

My buddy just made an offer on the above one for $222 and got it. Crazy cheap.

Perfectly ok, but is a 'dumb' robot. i.e. no navigation, bounces around randomly with the eventual hope of covering everything.
Having just come from one of those to the Deebot 950. A bot that I can point at a room or space on the map of my house and it goes there, vacuums/mops systematically and quickly, then returns to base - it's night and day I reckon.
However if you're happy to put these on a regular schedule while you're out and leave them to their thing, they still do the job.

Thanks for your reply, I opted to go with the dumb robot. I expect to do exactly what you did, use that one for a while till it dies, then upgrade
