See this received by email: https://ibb.co/B2WvV12.

It looks like the six-packs are still on sale, but perhaps the five-packs will be phased in? :o

Not sure yet on price differentials…

How can I sleep at night now after this big announcement :(

    • It's a travesty, that's for sure.

    • Have a snack (while you still can).

    price differentials

I doubt the price is going to change, the idea is to give you less for the same price.

That's the way you get people to not notice inflation, and for the RBA to think it's running at just 2%pa.

Remember Cadbury chocolate blocks? 250g was the standard. Then 225g. Then 200g. Now it's 180g. Nope, no inflation there because the price barely budged!

If oil companies could figure out a legal way to reduce the definition of 1L of petrol, they would.

    • But the oil companies have…..

    • This why we should buy chocolate in kg like we do with fruits, vegetables and coffee.

    • And Cadbury still say a glass and a half of mike (in every 200gram block) even though you can’t buy a 200g block. Crooks.

Five days in the work/school week. It should have been five from the start.

    • Many adults work 6 days or even 7 days a week.

      • +1

I bet most work 5 or fewer days a week. I don't see why we are buying them in boxes at all though, why can't we order 13 of them or 2 of them online. It feels like a 20th century way of selling these things, like back before the internet.

        • Buying two bars for $.50 each and paying $10 for shipping isn’t practicable.

          • @whooah1979: And yet I routinely buy muesli bar prices/shaped things all the time for 50 cents each on Amazon.

      • How many is your “many’ or is your many less many than it was last year

        • You are right that many today isn’t as many as it was last year, but basically every department store under coles and woolies is open 7 days. Westfields and Stockland is also open seven days. There is also small retailers, white collar workers like REA, surgeries, tradies, etc.

          • @whooah1979: From that I think you are saying many work various shifts over a 7 day timeframe, whereas the way you wrote it gave me (and I think AustriaB) the impression that you thought many worked 6-7 days every week.

  • Rip off.

They will say so they don’t have to increase the price, it won’t be cheaper than the 6 pack.

Same with Continental cup soups , the Sensations range, were a 4 pack now 2 pack and price went from $3.50 to $3…big deal, should be half price.

We bought Febreeze the other day, bottle is a different shape, also a lot smaller , same price though. .

    • You have to remember that the machines these guys bought to make these products decades ago might be coming to the end of their lives. When it's time to buy another millions of dollars of machines to replace in the factory it might not even make sense to sell them that size anymore. The size they were sold may have been partly due to the machines they invested in a long time ago. And the new sizes might better reflect realities of their new machines or processes. And that fabreeze could be more concentrated and the nozzle may deliver less liquid per squeeze.

      • Maybe so, but I bet it’s not more concentrated.

Most brand names now remove the ingredients list (for cleaning/non food stuff). They used to have it but people saw the active ingredients being less and more water. (Spray and wipe, Preen for example)

Nozzles for a lot have been made bigger so you use more (so you buy more often).
That was talking about on Gruen years ago for toothpaste and dishwashing liquid as one way they changed things to make more money, ingredients didn’t change just a bigger hole so more would pour out.

As to the cup a soup, still in the same tube sachets and into a box the same size. 50% less for 10% cheaper.

  • woolworths online pricing suggests you can buy the 185g 6 packs for $4.30 or you can buy the 175g 5 packs for $5.00. go figure. world sugar prices must be soaring!

    personally i wouldn't buy either

  • The one from your images are the newer range (more premium?) of Uncle Toby Museli Bars.

The 6/12 Packs are still available - Chewy & Yoghurt Range
