Does anyone have any experience with these?

    • interested to know

    • +6

I have 1 for the side door, very long battery life, 3-4 months at least, it's bright enough to light up an small area so you see what you are doing, but don't expect it to be a flood light type that is going to act like an artificial sun.

It also send you alerts during the day if it detects motion.

if you have side ally or back/side door these are perfect, easy to install and configure.

“It also send you alerts during the day if it detects motion.”

What can you do with such alerts if there is no camera to show you who is there..

        • +1

Walk out and see who/what is there.

My dog sometimes wonder around the side.

  • +1

These have some mixed reviews FYI.

  • Do you need to have existing Arlo setup with the base unit?

    • Description says stand alone

    • +1

It comes with a Bridge, so can be used on it own.

  • Wonder what the battery life is like

    • reading reviews and say about 4 months

      • I just read a review and it says it can last "a week or even a month depending on usage". Yeah, I was interested as we have Arlo Pro 2 cameras, but concerned about the battery now.

Would need to read more reviews to be sure it lasts for at least a few months or it would be way too frustrating.

        Edit
Second review: "for us we got around a month of use"
        Yeah I might pass.

  • +3

Doesn't include the cameras. Just the lights.

    • Lol! Well, yeah :P

  • no magnetic mount options…

  • +1

reviews on amazon not that great…

  • Could be a good compliment to Arlo 2 cameras but reviews are mixed, might pass and look for a decent solar motion camera instead

    • +2

They are good when they work.. easy to set rules along with the cameras. Worked fine for a few months.. started getting connectivity issues so haven't used for a while now.

  • +1

They aren't great at all, save your money

  • +2

at this price they are ok, been waiting for them. Nothing else on the market to compare with, they have just come out with a flood light / camera, buts is $440.

    • +1

yep that is why i picked them up. not worth it at RRP but at this price worth a crack.

    • I saw that on Amazon. Exorbitantly expensive. Does it work with Arlo Pro 2 base station??

      • yes, and they come with the hub which you need.

  • +1

Thanks OP. Cheap enough to give it a go

  • Worst comes worst… Atleast battery can be used if u have Arlo Pro 2… Saves u few dollars if buying standalone

  • I bought Arlo generation 1 and very unimpressed.
Not sure if they got better but would not recommend or go back to Arlo. I'm switching to Nest line which is wired.

  • I picked them up from HN 6 months ago for $139 I have pro 2's but am switching to nest cameras for our new build. I planned on using these in smartthings basically as a battery powered PIR to trigger other events but smartthings integration was very unreliable, also using Google to turn them on and off was hit and miss. Even just using them as motion lights was hit and miss in my experience. At this price they might be worth a shot for pro 2 users but could probably find better solar light out there.

single light is also available for $79

  • +1

How do they charge? Ie USB or 12vdc?

  • Even the jb site says $30 off. Rrp seems $159. Not sure what the difference is between jb and hn’s offering.

  • Good price but after seeing the lifehackster review, I’m gonna pass. Needs more Lumens power to be useful for my purpose

  • +1

    Question about the Arlo app.
You can have 5 devices without subscribing, I've got 5 cameras.
If I add any of these lights, does that push the limit and require subscription?

    • +1

Had this concern also. Apparently lights don't count

      • No. I have 5 cameras and a light. Also an audio doorbell

        • +1

          Great thanks chartparker and oohaah.

  • Limits you to 1 pair per transaction, tried to increase item count to two wouldn't allow it.

  • +3

A lot of money for only 400 lumens. Guess there is one born every day though.

  • Good guys had their set of light for $29. It couldn’t set them up with the software and the tiny qr code on the light. Keeps failing. Waste of money.

  • So no camera? so it's just a fancy flood light? Am I missing anything?

    • +1

You didn't miss anything, some people who bought it probably think it's a security camera ;)

      • “It also send you alerts during the day if it detects motion.”

What can you do with such alerts if there is no camera to show you who is there..

        • Exactly my point.. Have a feeling jb gonna get a lot refund of these once they realise no camera function lol

          • +2

@Lancerx: The light is more useful if you already use the Arlo cameras as it can also trigger the camera to start recording - detecting that motion from another angle where the camera may not be able to reach / or being positioned to fire off.

Alternatively, just use it as a security light, and have control over it remotely, or set it to a schedule etc.

Agree the alert function is of limited value if not part of a broader security system - whether Arlo or other.

I purchased one - will be good as an additional deterrent.

            • @fookos: Fair enough if you already got arlo camera. Think I'll just wait for the floodlight go special. Or eufy floodlight.

  • Looks like 2 pack has sold out. 1 pack is still available.

  • Shame the 2 pack ran out. Got the 1.

  • I have one of these. It’s fine. Light output isn’t great. But it works as expected.

    • Camera footage will be improved with this, over having no light source and using the night vision only 😁

  • All gone. Could it be some pricing error?

    • I received mine today.. Label kn the box does list price as $399.So may have been clearance

  • ordered shipping with Express… it is Toll… big mistake!

Upon delivery when I was not home the options are to redeliver or go to the depot at Melbourne Airport lol. Even Auspost has a local PO drop off..

    • That's a shame - I ordered with standard shipping and it arrived yesterday via Aussie Post!

      • yeah i paid more too.. i am a fool!
