I have this chair and pretty happy with it, paid $249 though.

    • Same with me

  • Looking for a good chair with around 4 - 5 hrs daily usage, anyone else vouch for this chair?

When the specs say "120kg weight rating", they're not usually very good…

    • +1

Much better than what you would get for the same price at Officeworks, which would be trash.

We have very similar chairs in the office, no issues. If you are a bigger guy (over 100kg) then these chairs will be marginal. You would really want a higher weight-rated chair, or something branded (Steelcase, Humanscale, KAB, Herman Miller). These tend to cost a bomb though.

      • I don't know who KAB is, but i'd always recommend Steelcase, Herman Miller & Haworth.

        • KAB does those super thick chairs for control rooms and such. 150kb weight ratings and higher.

    • If you can afford the upfront cost it works out cheaper long term and more effective - ie. less workplace injury - buying expensive task seating with decade warranties rather than replacing $200 level seating.

Cascade Mesh Ergonomic Office Chair - $199

I tried one of these chairs with a Boags instead, and it still worked…

  • Is this any good? I was looking at getting the ikea markus. Now I'm not sure

    • I've read some pretty bad reviews for the Markus.
Some to the point where people get headaches sitting it in.

      DYOR.

    Get a Herman Miller

    • Or Steelcase.

  • Would appreciate reviews from owners as this fits my need (needed adjustable armrests) and budget…

$350 shipping to the NT. Maybe not then.

    This vs Buro chair?

  • can u claim this in tax, if you are working from home?

    • +1

      Yer that's what I'm doing.

    • +1

Not if you use the shortcut and fixed rate method.

      Fixed rate method

You can claim a deduction of 52 cents for each hour you work from home for the work-related expenses you incur for additional running expenses. The fixed rate covers all expenses you incur for:

the decline in value of home office furniture and furnishings – for example, a desk
electricity and gas for heating, cooling and lighting
the cost of repairs to your home office equipment, furniture and furnishings.

To claim using this method, you must keep records of either:

your actual hours spent working at home for the year
a diary for a representative four-week period to show your usual pattern of working at home.

I got this for the wife she loves it. The only thing there's no lever for the back rest.

Any reviews or verdicts out on this chair. I mean it should be better than those faux pu leather office chair right. Wondering if it is comfy since the bottom uses fabric and foam?

    • +1

Seconded, I've had bad experiences with fabric type seats for 2+ hour sittings.

      • +2

My wife does 8 to 9 hours on this and she loves it.

        • Thanks for review man. Yer probs will be getting one.
I mean as long as the fabric dont fall off like the pu faux leather cheap chairs then im sold lol.

  • +4

I would highly recommend the Buro Metro. Previous deals: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/255325 and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/314922 might have some more reviews.

Friends have purchased them on account of working from home and have been very impressed. I've owned one for 5 years which has held up well, but the back has actually improved in newer designs.

    • Yo thanks for the advice. 5 years is a pretty long lifetime for a chair. So im guessing fabric wont wear out as fast as pu or faux leather chairs right.

      • +1

The Buro Metro has very high thick and comfortable foam. I had worn out all the Officeworks chairs priced between $100-120 and I'm not heavy set either. The Buro Metro base is solid and probably weighs more than entire other chairs.

The fabric has not worn out at all, the PU leather ones would have long deteriorated by now. I am actually going to reach to the makers of the Buro and see if they sell the back separately as I prefer the new design better than mine and it may just bolt-on.

  • Thanks OP. Bought one for the office.

Bought one, thx OP. For those who aren't receiving free deliver for metro areas, speak to live chat and they'll get you to set postcode to a default code and alter in system once order has been placed.

  • Mine arrived today. I was a bit skeptical of the hardware but im sitting on it now and it's actually pretty good feels solid etc. 10 year warranty too so not worried at all.

  • Thank you OP. Also pulled the trigger.
