This item is sold and delivered by HOUSE, a Bunnings Trusted Seller.

    From house. It's a trap.

Nah 170$ around standard at House when they have the 80% off sales like all the time. Someone probably price matched and the rort was over for Bunnings.. go to show how much they mark-up there products. $700 for this is a joke

Why the hell does someone need so many knifes? 3 is max you need, 1 normal kitchen knife, 1 bread knife and 1 stabbing knife.

    • +1

Most of these are steak knives, but I agree.

    • +1

      lol it's like cable-ties for knives :P

I need a new stabbing knife though - Roberto stole mine.

        Ha-HAA!

      • I remember being in the UK when a guy stabbed like 11 people at my local supermarket.
I wanted to know if he had taken his own knife (knives?) or grabbed a set of the shelf when he got there. Would save on costs given he wouldn't get to use them more than once…

  • …how do these compare to GINSU?

Baccarat knives are usually pretty bad if you want a good knife. But imo OK if you just want a set of knives for home and don't really care. But then, you could also just grab a couple from colesworth.

    • Never buy colesworth knives.. junk. Mind you i bought set for 20$ from Aldi and they were quite good.. still using.

  • Where are they made?

    • +1

prob china where everything else is made

  • I must be a caveman, but spending over $50 on a knife seems crazy to me. And why so many? One bread knife and one "everything else" knife is all I need…

    • Need a good paring knife too when dealing with small/delicate foods

      • Yes 3 knives. The bread knife doesn't need to be a good one. How can you sharpen it anyway?

        • If you need to sharpen your bread knife, you're most definitely doing it wrong …

I'm waiting for the 40 piece knife block. Only want to do dishes monthly.

  • RRP $38,612. I said that on the interwebz, so it's a fact. Because law.

Not keen on the marketplace being in there when search is already cluttered on Bunnings site…

  • It’s a shame house have such stupid pricing, I would buy from them if I had a better idea of their items real value. Instead I just feel ripped off.

  • +4

I’m negging this deal due to major issues with House and their rubbish RRP pricing followed by discounts which is to the price the item is worth.

In addition Global Retail Brands, the company which owns House, is using multiple businesses under its name, such as Robin’s Kitchen, to market the Baccarat brand. In my opinion an anti-competitive manner. They put the price up to ridiculous prices at all stores but then “discount” at one store to show massive savings. It’s misleading and deceptive imo.

The knives are okay but made out of very cheap steel in China. The edges will blunt/roll with very little use because of the poor quality steel.

So if you do own them, it's a good idea to have a decent knife sharpening solution because you will need to use it.

It's ridiculous these knives are priced the same as knives made out of higher quality steel as Shun, Wusthof etc. If you go into a House store they're permanently on sale, so they are definitely "falsifying" RRP on their products. It's definitely misleading and deceptive.
