How to Register New Address to NBN?

I currently use Voda NBN & planning to move my NBN service from my old house to my newly built house (completed 6 months ago) & we've already moved in.

When I tried to move my service, Voda said that my address couldn't be found & I have to 'REGISTER A NEW DEVELOPMENT' to NBN.

The thing is, I bought the subdivided land & a developer build our house. We already have the conduit installed as well in the garage.

Called up NBN, the Cape Town team said that my new house address is mislabeled to different unit (say unit 2, I'm unit 3) on the land block, which is true bullshit of their part. They handballed it back to me to get Voda to amend the address to NBNCo, but unit 2 already has their NBN running & connected.

So was it possible that my house builder/ land developer did not lodge the new address to NBN when they commenced the building?

Am I totally SoL in this situation & have to lodge a new Registration Of New Development to NBN & pay thousands of bucks to get my internet running on my new house?

  • Sounds like a pretty shitty situation… have you tried another ISP?

    • Contacted Aussie BB for their opinion & seems to be the same case. Have to register myself for now. This is their response.

If the address is less than 18 months old the NBN requires that the address gets registered with NBN directly. If the address is more than 18 months old, we are absolutely able to help you if you give our sales team a call on 1300 880 905.

  • Ask your local council to name it.

    • The council is not involved. You have to go through your ISP or register the new development with NBN.

New development fee is only $300, not thousands. Basically the equivalent of what getting a landline installed used to be.

    • On top of the $300 NDF NBN charge..

      SDU: $600 per premises.
      MDU: $400 per premises.

  • it can take a really long time (like 3-6 months) for your address to get registered in BC (before covid), can't imagine how long it would take AC (after covid)
