Costco Tyre Centre Refuse to Give Copy of Work Order

Hi OzBargainers,

I went to Costco tyres and got them to replace tyres. I fill out their order form and signed it. i requested that I get a copy of the work order form but the worker refused said that I already have a till receipt and I don't need a work order copy. I went home and later found out that to make claims for tyre maintenance your require a work order and till receipt to make a claim.

Note I notice there may have been a carbon copy behind the work order form.

Did this guy just pull a shifty on me so I cant make claims for after sales maintenance on the tyres?
Has anyone else claimed the free lifetime balance and rotate for their tyres? What is required?
Also is it my rights to get a copy of a work order form that I signed.

Cheers guys,
Knowledge is power and rights

Try directing your concerns to regional headquarters? (02) 9469 7999 or https://www.costco.com.au/contact-us We Don't know the state you are in…. So we don't know where you went… https://www.costco.com.au/tyre-centre maybe you can ring and ask anonymously if they provide work order forms?

All they normally provide is the till receipt. Which is quite detailed and sufficient for leasing and ATO claims.

The a4 page is their internal work order to order the tyres and assign them to your car and membership.

get a copy of the work order form

The work order is a internal document. It belongs to the company and they can refuse to disclose its content to the public.

I cant make claims for after sales maintenance on the tyres?

The tax invoice is your proof of purchase and the only document you need for warranty claims.

Well if the worker refused, you need to speak to a manager. You can’t let people walk allover you like that Karen.

You don't need the work order or even the receipt, they are able to look up all that information on their system. The condition listed on the paper work is out dated.

I bought a set of tyres from them many years ago, at the time they did provide a copy of the works order and said it needs to be shown when claiming the after sales maintenance work.

Recently(last year) I booked in for the free tyre rotation, but on the day before the car was due to be booked in for the work, I still couldn't find the original work order. So I called up to cancel the booking, the guy at Costco said that they didn't need to see the work order anymore, they have it all on the system. I rocked up, got my card scanned, and the work was done without any charge.

  • The work order is not yours to take home.

I went to the Costco Tyre Centre in Lidcombe and they gave me the carbon copy of the tax invoice which is sufficient.

As long as you maintain a membership, they can look up the purchase details on their system.
I had a puncture and I had it repaired for free a month ago.
I just showed him my membership card.

  • Are there an deals on at Costo tyre shop? looking for 4 tyres?

  • What's so important about Work Order?

Afaik everytime I've collected my cars back from Costco tyre shop they've given me an A4 with register receipt stapled to it. That A4 form is where I've signed to order the job, they've checked off all their torques & checks. Comes in a card folder with my keys.

I've never brought that folder back when subsequently bringing car back for puncture or pressure, they never ask for Costco card either.

I don't bother bringing back for 40km nuts retorque, easier to DIY at home.
