Thanks! Picked up the starter and the associated deck. Was mildly curious about it when it came out, $10 to try it out is a steal.

Can't go wrong for $5, thanks OP!

My garbage man would disagree with that statement. He sees lots of $5 instant garbage when he takes my trash home to sort.

Thanks! Ordered the starter and associated decks.

I may be wrong, but I think you need the Keyforge: Call of The Archons starter set to use “Keyforge: Call of the Archins - Archon Deck”.

I bought all three either way, $15 to try a decent looking Richard Garfield card game why not!

      • +1

Yep, I ended up ordering all 3 :)

I know nothing about this game, but from my limited knowledge of other games, you can either pay $5 for 2 decks in a starter set, or pay $5 for a single deck. Which means unless the decks are all identical (which it says they are unique) then you are just better off buying more starter sets

@Jackson: In the Call of The Archons starter kit, the two decks were all identical, but in the Age of Ascension starter kit, they're all unique.

This is because Call was the original set, so it was the first introduction of the game to the world, but Age is a perfectly good place to jump on.

            • @NiteMice: Good to hear, I just brodened the Age ones :-) (kidding, I bought 3 packs, I know who'll be using them ;-)

Do you know if you get different cards in the different editions? e.g. are the cards in archon and age mutually exclusive?

              • +2

@Jackson: Each set introduces some new cards and archives some old.
The decks are generated to be unique but there are generation rules used. For instance some cards will only show up as long as it has a certain other card with it or a certain number of them.

They have some pretty cool mechanics that put cards into the decks including a small chance that old cards that aren't officially listed as part of the current set still could turn up to mess with people and also that a card that is normally in one "house" can turn up modified to be usable by another

No, you don't need the matching starter kit. Actually every deck is totally stand-alone.

The starter kits just provide a bunch of cardboard pieces for tracking game states etc, but if you have a bunch of counters from other games you can get by without them.

      • +4

Not necessarily mate, you can use anything you have on hand for counters however at this price, the Starter set is insane value and includes said counters. The whole premise of the game was to have a very low cost of entry, that being the cost of a single deck.

  • Thanks op!

  • A bargain for the price.

  • where did everyone set postcode? struggling to find anywhere in sydney to click and collect.

Great price if you can find it within a 100KM radius.

  • Looks like I'm taking a trip to Shellharbour to pick up a copy!

  • DAM good deal! thanks!!!!

  • Fun game.

I think the original starter set had 2 'starter decks' in it, but afaik this (age of acension) starter set is just 2 regular decks + the cardboard bits and manual.

edit: looked it up. original came with 2 decks, and 2 starter decks. Age of acension just has 2 regular decks (no starter decks).
