I wish they'd re-release some of the lego sets form when I was a kid, I'd love to have the Caribbean Clipper but don't fancy paying $700 to buy a second hand one :/

I think it's nice too, but I highly doubt LEGO will release another ideas pirate ship so soon after Barracuda Bay.
EDIT: The original Barracuda Bay ideas design is better than the resultant LEGO model IMHO. But it would have cost a ton at retail so perhaps not viable :/.

I actually vastly prefer the official version. Some Ideas get better while others get ruined (Flintstones)
Don’t agree. You must be in the group saying Lego won’t pick another space ideas after Saturn V. And look what we got in ISS.
@Nishi77: Uh, negatory on being in whatever group you're talking about.
Saturn V, Intl Space Station and Lunar Lander are quite distinct and form a cohesive (Space) theme. Pirate Ship 1 + Pirate Ship 2 within a short time frame is not analogous. I don't see it happening - not anytime soon at least.
And hey if I'm wrong, I'll pickup the better looking Caribbean Clipper (aka Pirate Ship 2)!
Considering the pretty huge difference that the original design did not convert into a pirate ship, I'm quite happy with the retail version. When I finally open my one, I don't expect mine will be staying in Island configuration for very long.
