Holding out for similar prices to end of last year (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/508454) quite a few times sub $300

I personally think those days are over. Airfryers are like the new Dyson's Hand Held, all selling for premium prices now.

      • But clones that go for a fraction of the price and reach almost the same food quality are rampant.

i don't think these "fry", they are just full of hot air.

  • +2

Yeah Air "Fryer" is more a marketing term they are more like a fan forced oven, but the advantage is they cook quicker than fan forced oven, around 30% quicker. Also less energy used and in summer don't heat the whole kitchen. Surprisingly useful, I was a sceptic at first, these are great at making food crunchy, pork crackling for instance works really well. I'm sure the Phillips is a great product, but for price the Kmart version are also amazing.

    • I was going to get the Phillips, yesterday ended up picking up the Kmart one 3.2L for $69… what a weapon! Cooked pork last night and managed to make the best cracking I have ever made. The chips came out also great in 15 mins. 10 out of 10 would buy again!

The retailer is Myer, not Myers.

This is the standard price at Costco I think. I've been waiting a while for a $300 deal, hopefully I'm not dreaming.

    • The one at Costco is different model as well. It’s HD9651/91 which one some website are more expensive than this model.

      • Oh right! HD9651/91 is the twin turbo star which has double layer something and yes cost $50-100 more than this model!

        • Exactly, so this deal is good but I’m waiting for a better deal ( which I hope will come up soon 😂 )

  • Kilowatts: 2250

Wow. That thing almost needs its own power station to run. Certainly not going to run off your standard house circuits!

I'm still undecided between going all out on a Philips like this, or just going the ol' cheapo kmart piece.

    • Ummmmm what? Unless you live in a tent it's fine. That's less than your standard electric oven

      • A standard 10A powerpoint is rated for 2400 watts. This is 2250 kilowatts. Kilo!

    • Ohm… isn't 2400W the maximum output of a standard household wall socket? So should be fine unless you plug into a power strip or long/cheap extension cable. I have a couple other appliances with 2200W rated power as well (grill press, induction portable cooktop etc.)

      Edit: haha kilowatt. Nice catch!

Typo joke aside. I have just bought the Kmart air fryer a month ago, but now looking to buy a Philips one. I think the Philips basket style will cook food more evenly. With the kmart I have to take it out and turn every 5 mins. Also the circle shape of the Kmart make it harder to arrange food.

  • the 599$ model one is never on sale , not sure why?!

    • Apart from the "Smart Sensing", is there any other benefit over the other model(s)?

      • as far as I could check , 599$ has these extra if you call them features

Convenient "Save your favorite" cooking setting
Smart Chef programs for popular dishes
        Smart Sensing technology

        • Hm… sounds like nice features. Probably I could justify if it were $400, will keep an eye on it!

          • @Kingduytan: same , i'm just waiting for any reasonable deal on that
