as far as i know if you have the latest ryzen you'll be slightly profitable mining monero, anything older not so much, probably better just to buy at this point, you're competing with mega mining farms with near free electricity

I mine Monero with my CPU (i7-8700k) and get around 3000 h/s. It's not profitable, but it's a good way to slightly heat my room.

Expect to earn 4c per kWh on your cost of 20c. A gpu might get closer to the 10c per kWh range

I know that Monero uses the RandomX hashing function which is optimized for CPU's. If you're looking for other ways to get some crypto download the LBRY client and stream some content each day they give a random LBC reward. There's also a fair bit under the rewards tab that isn't too hard to do (follow creators, watch a certain amount of content)
