Comparing My Build with Recent Titan Tech Prebuild

Hi guys I'm a new forum user AND a new PC builder but keen to make my own.

I'm here and not on a computing forum because I hope to have some help with the cost of my build. I saw that it likely sits at the same price as a prebuild from here (if I add the 2060 video card I'd be about exactly on par)
https://www.titantechit.com/product-page/ozbargain-special-2…
and I was hoping to pay LESS than a prebuild, otherwise what's the point? Mine has a cheaper GPU and I'm not sure what, if anything else, I'm overpaying on.

My build is here, any friendly help is appreciated, thanks!

    • PCPartPicker parts list is currently private.
    • That is a low profile CPU cooler, more typically used in miniATX builds and the like. Case height cooler limit is 155mm, so I think there are quite a few other options that will provide significantly better airflow, for less money.
    • How much storage do you actually need? Can you tell us what the mix of data is - games, apps, videos, photos? Paying $54 for 1TB in 2020 seems like very poor value. Have you looked at used storage options?
    • Powersupply looks too weak, I would go 550W minimum.
    • Extra case fans do not appear to be good value in this build. What are you trying to achieve by adding them?
    • Thanks Pinchies, I honestly have no idea about this stuff but I'm slowly learning.
The data is basically everything, I will have games, videos, photos. Perfect world I'll just put games and the OS on the SSD and the rest on the HDD, there's a lot of instructionals I like to keep on my PC. But! I have an external HDD if there's any storage issues.
I'll up the PSU to 550W and look at other coolers and storage :)
Case fans are just to increase airflow in case I need it. Being a first build I'm worried I'd just have a hot mess of a PC and may need more fans. If they're not necessary I'll get rid of em

i'd use the stock cooler and a cheaper motherboard if you're not overclocking the cpu

put that money towards a 1660Super

    • Thank you, I'll look have a look at better value MOBOs! :)

  • Yup use the stock cooler, then a cheaper B450M board. You don't need Vengeance LPX, its for ITX builds, should have something cheaper. Depending on your use case, a 3300X might be better value than a 3600. And yes agree on putting the savings towards a 1660 Super, or a 5600XT.

    • Amazing, thank you for the advice!

    • Not sure the 3300X is easily available, its sold out everywhere and very difficult to find.

I definitely agree with you that for the budget and build its a better option for OP.

What do you mean it isn't cheaper than the prebuilt? Is there some special discount on the prebuilt making it less? Also avoid Corsair VS and CV like the plague, group regulated power supplies are far less reliable. I wouldn't buy the prebuilt over DIY, because their power supply is shit, we can't trust what GPU model they will use and there's just something special about building yourself.

    • Thanks for the tip on PSUs, I had no idea! I'll be very careful in future with that. DIY it is! :D

    • If you contact me via my facebook I can sell you one of those 2060 super cards for 600$ :)

      • Responded to the wrong comment.

        • Oops, I can't delete it either so hopefully they notice haha.

          • @Titan Tech: Lol yeah, $600 is a good price for it, probably not going to be the previous $549 any time soon.
