  • Haha, to make the lonstin post look bad. I saw your comments there.

    • I seriously don't care about brand as long as the pricing is reasonable and it does the job :)

Just sharing what I believe is very competitive price.

kogan was happily charging $39.99 + delivery for ONE 500ml bottle not long ago

Bought one to test out the smell.
Even though I still have 5L of Hand Sanitiser unused from last Manly spirits' deal :(

I don't see this as a deal because I perceive it to be Kogan's attempt at continuing their campaign of damage control regarding the extremely unpleasant price gouging they took part in during the "first" outbreak. I will never ever buy from that website again. In three months, I managed to buy one 500ml Dettol, and four 50ml Dettol sanitisers from Amazon. FOR MY ELDERLY MUM.

Stick with brands that have been doing it for a long time. Thumbs up for Dettol and Aqium. Wouldn’t touch anything else.

      • Agreed. Nothing against OP.

      • Make your own from bulk ISO. The device to measure alcohol content does not cost much at all. Trust yourself more than Dettol Corporation.

I think you overestimate how finely tuned the Kogan store and marketplace is. Kogan don’t really make anything themselves, they are at the whim of their suppliers. Most of Kogans own brand stuff is just rebadged other stuff, and sometimes they don’t even bother to rebadge it at all.

So the suppliers own and run Kogan? In April or May, Ruslan Kogan was bragging about his portable bidet thing on Twitter saying it was his best seller that week, and joking that if you have no toilet paper you can buy that stupid seat (which will probably break down in 366 days). The next day, the price went from $389 to $699. All the supplier's doing? Kogan isn't benefiting? I'm not overestimating anything.

Most of his stuff is chemical emitting garbage, too. Cheap crap manufactured for profitability alone. No actual concern for the consumer. Longevity? Forget about it. Most plastics are probably carcinogenic (the same story for practically every major company these days). Customer service is a disgrace, and they harass you with emails constantly. That has become the model. Harass the citizen into submission and turn them into a mindless hyper-capitalist. I'm happy just being a regular capitalist.

Further, yes, Kogan owns 51.8% of the company, so indeed he is not the only culprit in this matter. But the guy is worth $400 million on the backs of working class Aussies who believe they are buying from an "Aussie" with "Aussie interests" at heart. That's the premise but it is a deception. Kogan's interests don't lie with Australians, they lie with his cohort and especially himself. I mean, what a smug and horrendous thing to say on Twitter when there were real people struggling to find essentials. Appalling! It offers a glimpse into his mind.

We, as consumers, have ALL the power. And we are letting companies get away with this stuff. Everyone is implicated, but certainly, the average Joe Shmoe is led to the trough with that unmistakable "Aussie flavoured aroma". What a patriot.

Those are all enough reasons to stay away from the gigantic black hole that is Kogan.

I think we all know what we’re in for with Kogan. I don’t mind it, he’s keeping the dick smith branding alive isn’t he? No one else thought it was worth anything.

          • +1

@AustriaBargain: I don't care if you don't mind it. Some of us have standards. As for Dick Smith… lol.

            • @[Deactivated]: If the only supplier you can find is charging $20 for a tiny thing of hand sanitiser then it’s a good thing they give us the option isn’t it? What’s the alternative, not sanitising you’re hands?

      • Austria you have it really wrong… Big corp like Kogan would literally charge their suppliers to list products on their site AND to be branded as Kogan. That's before they even make a sale.

Similar to Woolworths, Bunnings, etc charging for shelf space.

kogans' motto should be - "lower than a footprint"

  • If only it WAS 10x$500 for $29.99.

    Fix the title :p

  • If it doesn't sell KOGAN will rebrand it as COVID 19 vaccine but as good corporate Australian will sell all of it to the Trumpster.

Aldi's Australian made hand sanitizer is readily available now. I'd never buy Chinese sanitizer and that too Kogan branded. No guarantee of reliability and knowing Kogan I'd stay away. I feel pukish looking at Kogan's merchandise.

Add to that price gouging to make profits during these difficult times. If they aren't doing them right now they will do it again.

Nobody been on this great company that has tripled since Mar :)

    $6 a litre and people negging !

  • $20.99 delivery so it's $50…

  • News article stating that hand sanitiser from katies, rivers etc. only had about 20% of alcohol and were thus, ineffective against covid-19. https://7news.com.au/travel/coronavirus/hand-sanitiser-sold-…

Anyone know whether this is even effective lol
